In a conversation, pre tournament, sure, But seeing the two teams this last 2 weeks? Was not in the least surprised. I dont think the group results would have been expected neither. Belgium and Germany sunk, Japan and someone else going through.

Basically, I think this England squad, for the last 4 or 6 years or so, has progressed. In so many ways. Will they beat France? Dunno. But if they lose, it wont be some hyper French team that demolishes them. If England beat them, unless some 20 minutes explosion occurs, again, it will be a pen. a Kane, maybe a Bellingham.
I dont think there's any question England are one of the favourite countries at the WC. But that's been the case in many competitions.

IMO I think they missed the boat when they lost to Italy at the Euro Championships. I think that was peak England for this generation. Yes, Bellingham and Saka are more mature, but that England defence is pretty average at best. Walker, Stones and Maguire have deteriorated since then, and the Rice-Phillips CM duo is not there to protect them.

?‍♂️

Im just wondering if Daves hate of the English extends to things like English Muffins and English Breakfast tea.

They were trying to get it in the box as much as they could. If you have a load of yard dogs standing on their own 18 yard box for 120 minutes it's a bit difficult.
I missed OT b/c had to do work stuf, and it was looking like 0-0. heard they hit or post late so maybe really pushing then. I kept watching 20 something passes around the box, then cross which was getting easily blocked quite a bit. They did win all 4 rounds in 2010, 1-0 w/ all goals coming in the 2nd half/ET. So I guess they trying to wear them out playing keep a way. That being said Inesta, Alonso, Xavi, Villa aren't there anymore and you prob can't dial up a goal when u need it. Also if Morocco were tired, 5 subs these days. At no time did I ever think Morocco was expending much energy defending.

This and that Guardian article. American viewers: what have you made of Fox Sports coverage?
1. ESPN always did great w/ international footie. Coverage was better than Europe.

2. Comcast - is a good presenter of the prem, pre-game isn't as good w/o Kyle Martino

3. Fox - Improved from dumpster fire to awful.

4. CBS/Paramount/Bleacher Report (C-league) - ArsenalFanTV has better production values. Steve Nash (ex-NBA point guard) was once an analyst.
