My initial thought was almost impossible to call but if I had to then England and Wales. But I'm starting to have my doubts now about Wales.
If Wales get through the group, it will probably be because we have a win and a draw as a minimum in the first 2 games against USA and Iran.
With our key players ageing, certainly in terms of Bale and Ramsey and with Joe Allen doubtfull for the first games due to injury, it will be tough.
In the 2016 Euros we were superb, those players were at their peak and we would have probably beat Portugal, who we met in the semis, if we had played them earlier in the competition.
By the time the semis arrived, the core team was totally knackered. We didn’t have the depth of quality to rotate then, less so now.
We probably have greater depth now, but not at the same level.
I suspect the same knackerdness will inevitably arrive earlier in the world cup.
Hopefully we have no more injuries in the remaining league games.
As someone else said, whoever hits the first games best will go through.
The current FIFA rankings for USA, Iran and Wales are so close as to make it impossible to base a prediction on form.
I’m glad we play Ingerland last, hopefully they play as well as they did against Iceland if we need a result.
Cymru am byth !
