I fear for the players of the Qatar national team I really do. If they end up getting drubbed 5-0 in all three games there will probably be public executions in the streets of Doha.

Sources say FIFA only agreed after Ecuador refused the Qatari bribe to throw their match. A Qatari spokesperson said, “It’s tradition in Qatar that Qatar must win all matches regardless of fairness to the opposition.” FIFA declined to comment.

What a nice country it is. What a wonderful country to select to host the biggest sports competition in the world, at a time when women's football has never been more popular.

Once married, she can be deemed “disobedient” if she does not obtain her husband’s permission before working, traveling, or if she leaves her home or refuses to have sex with him, without a “legitimate” reason. Men can marry up to four women, at a time, without needing permission from a guardian or even from their current wife or wives.

Women cannot be primary guardians of their own children at any time. They have no authority to make independent decisions relating to their children’s documents, finances, travel, and sometimes schooling and medical treatment, even if they are divorced and a court ordered that their children should live with them (“custody”), or the children’s father has died. If the child has no male relative to act as guardian, the government takes up this role.

Male guardianship reinforces the power and control that men have over women’s lives and choices and may foster or fuel violence, leaving women few viable options to escape abuse from their families and husbands.

Women in Qatar must obtain permission from their male guardians to marry, study abroad on government scholarships, work in many government jobs, travel abroad until certain ages, receive some forms of reproductive health care and to act as a child's primary guardian, even when they are divorced.

Hopefully this is the start of the football bubble bursting. World Cup is terrible , sponsor’s sue FIFA and pull out of future events , disgraced products who associate themselves with the corruption , gambling companies banned from sponsoring and TV rights moneys drops due to streaming and general lack of interest and people no longer willing to pay a lot of money to watch a group of moron sounding millionaires dive their way to a 0-0 .
Football will survive but the game was disgraced has been for years. I sincerely hope this is the beginning of Football Armageddon and we start again. Cap wages, Salary Caps for teams , get rid of agents and bosman whatever it is that ruined the game I dunno but its a horrible sport in every way. I loved it

It's always darkest before dawn, and this is the darkest world cup in so many ways, we can only hope that this is the lesson that FIFA (and others) really needs that the game is bigger than bribes and backhanders and they start making decisions for the good of the game from now on.
