Worst Squad Since Early 2000s

The early 2000s sides had fight and bottle, they just weren't very good. The likes of Pistone, Cleland, Idan Tal, Scot Gemmill were atrocious. But they gave their all.

There's some good players in this squad, with no bottle.

The players just don't have drive and desire to kick on.
They were terrible but they still had some players with actual quality, either physical or technical. What have we got at the moment?

That is a slap in the face to the team of early 00s.

It had Duncan Ferguson as no9 ... I can go on but that alone is cased closed

Players with absolutely no bottle or desire.

They're not top half, but these players are better than a relegation scraps, yet for the 4th season running were having a scrap.

Managers come, Managers go, but the same players always seem to churns out meek performances.

I think it’s far more about their ability than their desire. Some of the passing and touches tonight were absolutely criminal, and the total lack of creativity is crippling. I can’t really fault their effort to be honest, they’re just absolutely terrible at football.

Moyes had some bad players in the early to mid 2000's, the earliest I can remember is 02-03 but at least we had an identity and were strong at home. I've never known Goodison to be so easy for the opposition

the standard of premier league was a lot lower then though and not as many pacey or technical players

relative to the rest of the league this is potentially a poorer squad as we don’t have much technical quality and pace when majority of the league does have a decent abundance of it

They’re not better mate I promise you.

Look above us in the league and who do you think we should be above?!

We are bottom 5, if you’re down there it doesn’t take much to be bottom 3. This group have very little quality between them, whether it technical ability or physicality. We need to get a few players in asap.

We have had worse squads with more goals in them
This team is not the worst in terms of ability, but is definitely the worst in terms of mentality. I can't remember an Everton team of the past where the players didn't care.

This one feels like the out of contract players have conspired to relegate us. Calvert lewin and doucoure being the prime examples.

If this group of players were in the championship, they would probably be in the top three
Does that mean the the bottom teams are terrible football players or just not as good has the top team players
I think Everton fall in to the category in the prem

This side is considerably worse and way less likeable then any team from the 2000's or the 90's. I'd so so far to say that if it wasn't for the fact that we've been relegated twice this would be the worst side in the clubs entire history and even then I'd say that was up for debate. They're definitely the most unlikeable side in the clubs entire history and its not even close.

I thought this lot were a top half team in waiting who only needed to practice some passing and a manager who ‘plays to win’ and then all of a sudden we’d be sauntering into the top half?

Don’t tell me the exact same physical and technical shortcomings have stayed the same even though we’ve replaced the manager?

It’s almost as though what the teams really needs is a load more investment in good players rather than it being the sole fault of the last 7 managers.

I don't think I quite follow what you mean? I mean obviously when I say they're terrible at football i'm being massively hyperbolic, they aren't terrible relative to the majority of the world, just relative to the competition they're in.

Garner, McNeil & Ireogbunam will make a big difference, need them back asap and a couple more additions

I know Ashley Young has done ok this season, but it almost puts me on a downer when I see him in the starting 11 - 39 year old full back in the PL, its a joke.

Doucoure, Harrison etc need to come out the side now
