Would you pay £24m for Lukaku?

What is the maximum you'd pay for Rom?

ohzz. no worries. wasn't meaning to get into drama. I just don't like David Moyes for personal reasons. Whereas you love him.

I dont love him, I just think Walter Smith was possibly the worst Everton Manager in "my" history, for the record, Kendall was the best, then probably Joe Royle.

Joe Royle would have already bought Lukaku for 24m.

lolz. I love Joe Royle too. On FA Cup Final day, I was at my dad's funeral at home, some function. When Everton won, it was like something special - to me. I was 14

But for DM will always be a dick.

What's the odds on Chelsea saying we can't have Lukaku or Ba, but we can have Torres for peanuts?

*watches mass fume take place....

I was at Wembley watching with tickets I got personally from Peter Johnson, best Chairman we ever had. ;p

Oh and I was older than Lukaku.

My perspective, growing up, I read something by a poster with sheedy or sheeds in his name , and he said Johnson got us in debt. Everyone jumped on him and was like with posters like him 'wtf'. But he was spot on. With Johnson at the helm (and Kenwright as director) we overspent in the 90's. Money we didn't have and we're in debt due to that very reason. I used to hear Everton fans ring up five live or whatever and say we need more money - we were amongst the biggest spenders in those Samways Bilic Williamson days etc. I think under Johnson we spent like £45M. Which was a lot back then. And that's why I defend Smith. He managed a club without ownership for a long time, but kept us up. Had we gone down, we might be like Leeds or PNE right now.

At least its calmed down a bit, thanks lads, but, please, can we keep it reasonably close to the thread title?

Smith took over from Kendall who had crap like Carl Tiler in his squad. Smith made sensible, cheap signings like Alan Stubbs, and David Weir, and Richard Gough that kept us up, not to mention Kevin Campbell. That kept us up. You have no clue. Who signed Lee Carsley?

Erm he also signed an overweight ginola, a 57 year old mark Hughes, past it blomqvist and rubbish like linderoth, Stephen Hughes and alexanderson. Plus he oversaw some of the most turgid football ever seen at Goodison. We scored 3 goals at home in his first half season FFS...and that was before he was forced to sell his big money buys.

And who can forget the 3-0 hiding at home by tranmere, embarrassing

free transfers apart from linderoth and alexandersson. plus what could we attract? It's so pathetic WS is seen as a failure yet when he was here we were seen as an underachieving club (rightly) and in the next years under Moyes he turned us into a Moyes FC doing well ALL cos of Moyes. pathetic. im not replying to any other comments in this thread from now on.

Johnson got us in debt, but Kenwright has tripled that debt and also "sold" most if not all our assets.

In the grand scale of things they are both terrible.
