Would you pay £24m for Lukaku?

What is the maximum you'd pay for Rom?

Agree with the fella earlier who equated this to the Kanchelskis signing.

I remember that taking seemingly forever, but when he did put pen to paper the feeling was immense as he was one of the best players in the League and was a massive statement from EFC. If we pull this one off, then it'll be our best signing since that day and one of equal importance. I'll be ecstatic if / when it happens.

Just a quick question here. I'm assuming you're a bit older than myself to remember transfer sagas in the nineties so what was it like playing this game back then without no forums and communication like this, twitter and all social media or official Everton website. How did you know what was happening along the way?
We waited to see a picture of a player with a shirt held up by the player, manager and chairman on the back of the Echo.

That was a done deal.

Gone are the days a potential new signing would be spotted popping into the newsagents on Goodison Rd for a paper, sparking The Echo into life.

I don't know what's worse, hitting F5 or waiting for the paper boy to drop the Echo through the letter box.

Top work Bluegirl, your spot on. We need to have Rom do this deal, it screams intent to play for the school of science, its a word associated with this great club going back yonks..

When i hear jarg styles of play bandied around now as * Philoposeez * today make me want to puke...
I think another of many first,s of this great club, was a blackboard in the dressing room with magnets depicting of how the holy trinity would destroy teams with Joe Royle as boss in the air slotter.
Only one i ever saw come close to Joe at the time with the head was Martin Chivers from Spurs

This Metro article is hilarious popcorn. He was going to Spurs? Ok lads.

Romelu Lukaku is set to snub interest from Tottenham to sign for Everton in a surprise permanent deal.

Lukaku, who spent last season on-loan with the Toffees, asked to leave Chelsea last month with a switch to Spurs looking likely.

But in a quick-fire move, the Daily Mail says Lukaku is now just hours away from signing for Everton permanently, for an undisclosed fee.

The Belgian striker is thought to have set his heart on working with Roberto Martinez again after improving his game under the Spaniard last term.

Tottenham had made Lukaku their number one transfer target this summer but will now look at other options including Wilfried Bony.

I hope so that it is true I hoped, and guessed in an earlier post of mine that we would break the bank for Lukaku, and add a few smaller deals and loans + the fact RM was also banking on using youth players - it will be a great investment its a no brainer if we can get him - a young top class striker who will only get better!
