Would you prefer England to win the World Cup or Everton to win the Premiership?

Absolutely nish to do with football mate.

I'm not arsed about the anthem, or the flag. But I am English and I am proud of the fact. Must be horrible not having any identity mate it really must.

And until Liverpool is recognised as a separate country, which it never ever ever will, then you are English like it or not.

I know you are, and you can't deny that fact.

Bad bad traitor.

I'm scouse mate, it fills me with more pride than any country ever will.

You should be envious of me, for we are truly the chosen.

When England are playing in S Africa, I , like most English football fans, will be watching the game with a few cans willing them to a win. It would make me proud if we did win the world cup. But it wouldn't give me the same feeling as Everton winning a cup final. I suppose most football fans would feel the same

I support Everton so its as simple as that.

I live in Norwich but don't support them. I live closer to some parts of France than i do parts of England but don't support them.

England means nothing to me.

Everton every single time. They are THE only team.

Wow, didn't realise the bandwagon rolled that far south.

Your all bitter, that I know. You hate something but don't really give a valid enough reason for hating something.

When I die I want to see certain things happen in my life. Fortunately I was very lucky to see 2 title wins, something that most people on here won't ever see again.

I never saw England win the World Cup, I want to see that happen.

It's all about memories and lets face it smiling at life.

Hands up who has smiled at watching Everton often in the past 20 years?

It hasn't happened that often. For me Everton is just a club I support, it's not my blood, or my families blood.

Everton are like a fit girl who strokes you when she's drunk, but when your in public she treats you like [Poor language removed] and forces you to make excuses for her.

England are like a girl who may not be that fit, but will not cause you that many problems.

Now any hoover heads want to bad rep me, bring it to the Elm on Sunday. I'll be the one with the Spurs top on!

Damned with your own words, Ghost!

I don't hate the country of my birth, but I don't get the whole wrapped-in-the-flag patriotism. England is just a place you're from. It's only existed for about a thousand years & not as a true separate state for some centuries. It's a man made concept, named after some germanic tribal group & one day it won't exist anymore. Countries come & go, nationalities change. You're supposed to proudly support England sometimes, Great Britain sometimes & the United Kingdom at other times - British Isles doesn't crop up much anymore because it's not pc - but increasingly we are now supposed to be proud Europeans too - it's all a load of cobblers!

Maybe so. I don't actually buy into the flag wearing, but being in a pub watching a world cup game, knowing that every single person in that pub is wanting the same thing as you, and when a goal goes in it's a wonderful feeling.

Sorry to everyone who thinks I'm a bad tit for supporting the country I was born in, but I make no apoligies for it.

I don't think you're a bad tit - but then, we've never met so I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt! I just can't get worked up about the national team, & not just for football either.

Tbh, my feelings towards England are somewhat "qualified", to say the least whenever there's an Everton player on the opposing team. One of my best memories of an England match is watching Don Hutchison's goal at Wembley sailing into the net.

Are you sick in the head? You enjoyed a SCOTLAND goal against england?

Oh my angina....

Yes, & it's not due to any great love of the Scots - I very much enjoyed watching them being dismantled by England in Euro'06. I was just more interested in our player, as in an Everton player, than in the England team.

Scotland though...and hutchinson of all people..

I may well be castigated for this, but I seriously think I would rather have LIVERPOOL winning the league than England winning the World Cup.

not stirring trouble here, just a simple, honest answer, and I'll stand by it.

If I was English maybe I could get worked up over things, but I just cant' seem to stand the national side, something to do with all the saturation coverage it brings, can't move for red and white banality coming from every page, every flyer, every radio or tv broadcast, and it just pisses me off, If they do win next year I think that just may put me into a coma, that would be a nightmare scenario, todays draw did me no favors, but I've said my piece on that.

Look, to get back to the question, Everton or England to be Champions, from my standpoint, you do the math.

It's a pity this as there are some good people on here and I'm not looking to make enemies, I am an Evertonian of many a year, and that's why we're all here, but at the end of the day, a red mist seems to descend when the national team comes to the fore.

Everton to win the League over an England world cup win, 101 per cent absolutement.

No - Hutchison (y) What do you mean "of all people" ? He was a good player for us at a time when we didn't have many & it was unfortunate he ended up leaving when he did.

Anyway, it'll be the same next summer - any matches I see will be far more interesting to me if an Everton player's involved, even if they're playing England.

Everton for me. Whilst I don't want England to lose they've never really interested me, I'm not a big fan of international football as a whole unless one of Everton's players are playing.

As for someone say England are more likely to win something? They really aren't, that's just utter bollocks to be honest. There history speaks for itself.
