Interesting. I always felt the signs were always clear his last team were capable of special things. Wonder if we would have been fourth rather than fifth if he had Lukaku.

Strange thing is he had long ago abandoned the Dogs Of War approach when he had time to build his own side over a number of seasons. Doesn’t stop people claiming he was a long ball merchant!
I was at the last home game the week before, v West Ham. To be fair we played fantastic and should have won by plenty. He had built a very good side. And I could be wrong but was that season Norwich scored last minute at Goodison for 1-1. I remember Fulham away in complete control and they scored with the last kick for 1-1. With Moyes again trying to hold out for a 1 nil win. That was a regular thing every season.

My point is that had moyes been braver over his last 3/4 years we could have got champions league football instead of finishing 5th or 6th and being 3 wins away.

And that was summed up the week after the West Ham game. At Chelsea his last ever game in charge. He’d never won at Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal and Utd in 11 years. I know everyone is aware of this. We had nothing to play for, we couldn’t go up or down the league no Matter the result. A win would have given him his biggest points tally as Everton manager.

At 1-1 with not long to go he takes an attacker off for a defender or midfielder . Can’t remember the players involved. Anyway Torres scored late and we lost 2-1. And that was moyes in a nutshell.

You think its OK for a manager to walk into a club and say they are crap and going to go down anyway? Before a ball has even been kicked?

He never used to be like that, he raised us up when he first arrived with a bit of self belief. He is not the same manager as he was back then. Not even close.
Haha - well, he was right!

You have to remember at that time spurs & Liverpool were nothing special and going through transition. We finished above the [Poor language removed] that season and had been close With spurs for a few years. City while spending money still hadn’t got it completely right, still very inconsistent. And a good but not great Arsenal team finished 4th like every season.

It was really Utd & Chelsea who were the only big players, With city just about to catch them.
What garbage - Spurs finished fifth and had Gareth Bale. They also had other good players like Defoe, Rose, Gallas, Kyle Walker and even a young Harry Kane. It was the early flowering’s of their top 4 squad.

Liverpool has Suarez, Coutinho, Gerrard, Reina, etc. Liverpool basically had the same side that would finish second, but we finished above them.

Yes, but on the other hand our strikers were Anichebe and Jelavic. Fellaini was our top scorer with 12 goals and Mirallas second top with 9!

That season we would have been top four with Lukaku.

garbage lol have a word with yourself
. And if Liverpool were so fantastic how did we finish above them? We finished 6th 9 points behind spurs and I think another point behind Arsenal in 4th. Maybe you should read my post again.

I’m not saying he didn’t do a good job and all them teams had more money, And I didn’t say what happened the following year or two. Maybe that was the Bale break out season and obviously Liverpool nearly won the league the next season

I was referring to moyes last season. And the 3/4 seasons previous were we had finished above spurs. And finished above Liverpool 2years running. And had he been braver especially away from home, we could easily have got top 4 at least once. And that could have been a game changer for us and him.

I agree to an extent. Problem was, Liverpool at their worst could attract quality we couldn’t. And they could spend big while we couldn’t.

In 2012-13 Spurs spent 60 million and Liverpool spent 50 million. We spent about 10 million.

People forget the billionaire Joe Lewis owns Spurs, and can afford to splash the cash.
