Moyes was fantastic. You would have thought the subsequent years and managers would have made people realise this by now.

It’s a backwards step. But I’ve always wondered what moyes would be like with money.
You could argue that he was destined to fail at United. They’re certainly no better off.

Don’t see how it would work really, his greatest skill was recruitment, we have the Dutch lad for that at the moment, so not sure he brings much more to the table in terms of evolving in coaching, I like Davey though always will.

Right man, wrong model maybe.

I recall Everton beating Man Utd at Old Trafford during Moyes' brief tenure there, poor guy.

Did he get to bring in any new players there besides Fellaini and Mata?

Agreed! Your right. What would Moyes have done if good money had been available at Everton.. Because of his close relationship with Bill, I think he would have been wary with the money and sensible with it.

When Dreary Davie arrived at Everton from Preston (a second level club) We were in desperation.
Arsenal were champions.
Some norwegian/cockney outfit finished second.
Man Utd were 3rd.
LEEDS finished 4th !
City weren't even in the Prem !

That's how different the top four was then !
The "BIG SIX" didn't even exist. Not even a big four.
This weird idea that moyes is our saviour is an utterly crazy delusion. Saying that he'd be better with present money is utter bullshit because NO-ONE had our present level of money then.

[Poor language removed] moyes.

This thread reads like a bunch of love sick sad faces reminiscing over an ex, who not only dumped them for a "cooler, richer" guy, but was not all that attractive to begin with. Now she's older, and you think, maybe she's changed, couldn't be worse than the boring bint currently hanging on your arm.
Meanwhile, you watch as your rivals look to be chatting up a bunch of super models.
What is wrong with this picture?

Fellaini , Johnson, Yakubu, Bily , Beattie were all relatively big money signings at the time.
Relative to what? Look at those signings in comparison to the competition.

2005 - Beattie 9m : Essien - 24.5m

2006 - Johnson - 8.6m : Andriy Shevchenko - 30m
2007 - Yakubu - 11.25m : Tores - 26m

2008 - Felaini - 15m : Robinho - 32m
2009 - Bily - 10m : Tevez 29m (I think that's highest that year)

This is just the incoming transfers to the Premier League, take 2009 and the big transfer of Bily. At the same time as this, City bought both Tevez and Adebayor for 29m and Lescot for a mere 27.5m, meanwhile Madrid bought Ronaldo for 80m. Big money? Bily was around 10m.

Moyes never bought a big money signing at Everton... not even close.
