Welcome to Barcelonaton FC
My only worry about Victor is his mentality. When he was younger he used to sulk a lot, even when he was playing for the ressies if things didn't go his way he'd just give up. He seems to have grown out of that tho. He can still make it as a Premiership striker, I have no doubts about that.
I don't think the graveness of our injury situation has been emphasised quite enough. Victor isn't exactly the most reliable in terms of fitness himself. It's not like we can rely on him to play 90 mins every game, we can't even rely on him to play some part in every game. And we still have 5 games to play before the window opens. Even if we manage to do a crazy free agent deal or something, that'll take time to sort out. We are in big, big trouble for striking options.
I think thats where Cahill, Arteta, Jags, Neville and the rest of the team need to help him out, give Vic that boost.
I just hope Vic is selfish. I want him not be scared of shooting, of beating people and using his strength. He's not going to be scoring week in week, no striker does, but if he gives 100% as if every game was his last and is not scared of going up against experienced defenders, its all you can ask for.
If he makes mistakes and picks himself up, ploughs on with his team mates backing him, urging him on, I think he can be a solid replacement. He's just gotta keep thinking "this is what I was waiting for" and how much does he really want it.
The lads gotta be hungry, he has to be. He's not doing 10minutes here or there to impress the boss he'll be an Everton 1st team striker in big games. He's just gotta not give a [Poor language removed] about anything or anyone and give it his all.
The thing aswell is...other teams might be interested in him. If he's not going to be an Everton 1st team striker in 2-3 years time, he's gotta impress other teams so he can be a 1st team striker.
He's been given the best opportunity and I hope he does well. The Goodison faithful better get behind him big time against Villa, even a scuffed shot needs encouragement for the lad.
