Yakubu out for season

Victor's goal to game ratio is actually pretty good, better than Heskey's at that age actually.

Played 54 scored 6.

I'll leave you to provide Heskey's stats up to the same age.

You might have a better chance on mınutes played/goals scored but I doubt it.

I like Vic. He's a strong hard working player with some good skills that he can work on improving, who always looks like he's giving his best and is enjoying playing for the club.
Twenty years ago he could been a regular second choice premiership striker. But that's not going to happen now unless the FA caps the number of foreign players allowed at each club.

As much as im delighted with the performence and win yesterday make no mistake about it Yaks loss is going to be immense im concerned.

If we can get by with Anichebe untill Vaughan and Saha come back, depending on time, i would be happy.

I think its time for Vaughan but its likely to be March at the earliest ill imgain. I would be dissapointed to blow a wad on another striker.

If we could get maybe a Russian player on loan or Henrick Larsson id be happy enough both there leauges are over going into the New Year right?

Say no to Heskey!

Vic's just got the opportunity to be what he's always wanted to be. No waiting to impress the boss so he can get a couple minutes here or there. Its his time to try and cement his position as a premier league striker. He's not going to get a better chance than this, especially for a big club like ours - any striker his age would give their right arm for the chance Vic has IMO.

This goes for Baxter and Jukebox too. They all have to play like its the last game they're ever gonna play.

Can Vic do it? I dunno. He's big and strong. Can position well and keep his calm in front of goal. His first touch isnt great and still isnt the finished article. He's gonna need a lot of help but I'm sure if he bangs one in, in front of the home crowd his confidence will grow.

It's time for Vic to step up to the plate. This is his big chance. If he doesnt do it then that could be it at Everton for him. He should get the next few months starting and finishing games. He has to realise this is the biggest oppatunity he'll ever get. Time to become a hero Vic.....

Who said Saha is out for a good couple of weeks...?

Well said. It'll be nice to see Vic get a good run starting for us. I cannot see a better chance for him to make his claim, hope he makes the best of it. Good luck to him.(y)

Anybody catch the after match phone-in on Radio City? Some idiot said Yakubu's serious injury was an early christmas present for him. How pathetic hey! Yak has not been in great form of late but no one should wish injury on a player. Lets just hope two things, that idiot took a good look at himself in the mirror this morning and felt ashamed of himself, and lets hope Saha's injury is'nt too serious.

That feller sounds like a cuunt and was probably a wind-up RS merchant. Any club in the league would gladly have Yak in their 1st team, end of, even the [Poor language removed] because they know Robbie Keane aint done [Poor language removed] all since he went there.

My only worry about Victor is his mentality. When he was younger he used to sulk a lot, even when he was playing for the ressies if things didn't go his way he'd just give up. He seems to have grown out of that tho. He can still make it as a Premiership striker, I have no doubts about that.

I don't think the graveness of our injury situation has been emphasised quite enough. Victor isn't exactly the most reliable in terms of fitness himself. It's not like we can rely on him to play 90 mins every game, we can't even rely on him to play some part in every game. And we still have 5 games to play before the window opens. Even if we manage to do a crazy free agent deal or something, that'll take time to sort out. We are in big, big trouble for striking options.
