Well to be fair, the stats back it up.

Bolasie - 26 games, 5 Goals, 4 assists
Townsend - 29 games, 8 goals, 4 assists (At Newcastle - 13 games, 4 goals)
Zaha - 34 games - 2 goals, 5 assists.

Bolasie had a nice run of goal scoring for a short stretch a couple of seasons back which seems to have made Crystal Palace and others believe there is more production ready. But I tend to believe now that his mid-level production of last year is more likely the reasonable expectation.

Whats your take on him

Quick, exciting, fabulous ball skills.
Inconsistent, poor decision making, poor finishing
There will be days when you think he is the most exciting player you've ever seen and days when you want to throttle him. Sometimes this will be the same day.
Koeman's challenge is to make him more consistent...and he might. We don't have the managerial or coaching set up that you do and Ithink he will benefit from it. I like him and I hope he does well.

I just struggle to understand how people watch him in person and view those videos of him and see anything other than a one trick pony who utilizes nothing but his speed. His touch is abysmal, he can't finish, he doesn't link up. He literally just takes off and tries to run past a defender. We are talking money in Mata Isco range and we are going to spend it on Bolasie.

Absolutely this. We are essentially trading John Stones for Bolasie and Kone. At least Rom won't have the worst touch on the team. Maybe that will help his confidence.

Yes , but Zaha has never played as an out and out , through the middle striker whereas Bolasie was often asked to play there. Zaha and Bolasie although ostensibly are both wide attacking players are not interchangeable and often have completely different roles during a game. You could make quite a case for some bang average players by only relying on stats.

If he is worth that then so should Delboy and Mirallas. All much the same.He will be brilliant occasionally but frustrating the majority. Think I've heard and seen that before.

What a foolproof scheme.

Liverpool have been doing it for years and eventually they strike gold. Money made selling 1 flop goes towards another player who either flops or is a Suarez/Coutinho. They will be doing exactly that with Benteke.

Fact is we are operating in the big boys realm of £25 million+ players and not every signing is going to be a world beater. Some deals will be risky and that's the same for everyone else.

End of the day he either is a success or we sell him for £15 million next season and bring in a better player for £25 million at the cost of £10 million. With a billionaire owner and the SKY money thats not going to kill us.

are we overpaying? definitely. But if Koeman wants him then so be it.
