Dont you think we have had a problem in being able to attract the quality of player we want this summer though? It seems to me like we have thrown money at players with little/no success. How is that a lack of ambition? If anything, its too much.

But weren't we told that wouldn't be the problem anymore?

Too many people thinking short term, it may take a while but feel more confident now then have done for last few years, our club is in need of serious renovation, it will take time but in a few years it will be worth it

Pardew is just a very sore loser!. At the barcodes he stated "We are in a different league to Everton now", how right he was proven to be. He has always been a snide where Everton are concerned, maybe its because we nearly always swill his teams out on a regular basis. Or more probably because he's just a very very lucky chancer who is jealous of Everton's superior standing in the game?. Whatever the reason is ,it makes no nevermind because the powers that be at Palace will decide how and when the deal will be done!!.Pardew is an oaf ,short and sweet - a journeyman/yard dog of a player and a never will be as a manager.

And he shagged one of his players missus when he managing Reading I heard.
Football is the only sport where this guy would be seen as management material.
He is a massive spongebob

Not by the club, was it?

We were told by the media and people like Esk etc that we were aiming high with our targets, and that the money to get them wasn't a problem.

As it turns out, I still don't think the money is the issue (we agreed that £25mil fee with Zenit at the start of the window, for example), but our 'draw' certainly is an issue.

We're going for players in their prime years who tbh, quite frankly couldn't care less about a 'project'. They want to be winning things and be at the best clubs. Unfortunately we just aren't there yet.

I still think we have a good chance of getting Mata in because he's been in the Prem years now - knows the club to an extent of how big we are etc, and of course knows and greatly respects Koeman.

Just looking at things objectively.

Not sure what the hold up is with this one, assuming there is a hold up, because they've already got a replacement in Townsend.

It's how the deal's being structured more than likely. Probably agreed a fee in principle and the negotiations will be in advanced stages/may even be done, but then we'll also have to iron out the details with Bolasie.

Think (barring any big u turns) this will be finalised in the next two or three days and announced early next week, potentially the same being the case for Kone as well...

If we had £100M we wouldn't have had to wait until selling Stones for £47M.

I would hazard a guess we have made plenty of contact with players throughout the summer, Dave. Problem being Koeman has had to inherit an absolute mess of a club after Roberto has finished with it. 3 years of lack-of-fitness, a squad bereft of morale, containing the likes of Niasse/ Kone/ Cleverley/ McGeady etc. It was never going to be an instant fix- new players weren't going to be attracted to that. You say we have had to wait until selling Stones. We've signed one player since selling him, and as far as I can see that was going to happen at some point regardless this transfer window.

No we weren't

Find me one single quote from someone from Everton who has said this, you won't be able to.

Exactly.

People are holding the club to promises they never made, based on a slogan used to sell season tickets (that was actually released/announced when we still had Martinez...)

Mate we all the right to form our own view and to move off the splintered fence occasionally.

My view is that the club deliberately leaked stories to suggest we had big hopes and in doing so intentionally raised expectations. They've since cocked up time after time and let Ronald down hugely. Now they are frantically trying to lower hopes as they go for substantially lower calibre players. Only big name signings can salvage this window.
