we've scored some cracking one touch goals already imo Dave, Mirallas' goal away to West Brom, Lukakus hatrick goal against Sunderland was brilliant one touch football. Colemans goal yesterday was a lovely one touch move. We've mixed it up as well by scoring goals from crosses from the wings such as the couple against Sunderland, Barry's header, Lukakus tap in yesterday.

Still not firing on all cylinders but massive progress and most importantly we look solid as a rock, organised, disciplined and fit.
I agree mate. We have played some nice moves in and around the box and that is a continuation of what we saw under RM in his time here when we were at our best. I'm glad Koeman isn't trying to get them to unlearn that. You come in and change the stuff not working and leave what works alone.

But my point is that, for me, we don't get forward with a lot of numbers unless the game is needing to be recovered. We slot back into a numbers behind the ball type of play that then looks for what is becoming our signature move: releasing Bolasie with a more direct ball.

That's why I'm asking for others PoV on this mate.

Well my POV is that Bolasie looks ok. Ignore the price, (Pogba anyone?), but he adds another dimension to the team. An out ball I think you called it.

My fear, is that in the same way we all lauded Martinez with his fusion of Moyes and him in season 1, we maybe seeing a similar thing now with Koeman getting them knuckled down, but the attacking potency of the RM regime still being there. Lets face it, we look cracking on the counter, can hurt sides on both sides, but also look resolute.

Lets hope the balance is maintained, not lobbed into a one way street.

But back to Bolsie, I saw him, briefly. at Bristol City, who sold him for about £300k iirc. So £25m plus seems mental.

So the stuff that's working is down to Martinez and your only gripe is about the stuff Koeman has decided to do differently.

You are the sneakiest sausage David.

Still trying to defend El Fraudo I see ;)

In every game we play, we play a front 5, stop trying to pick holes.

TBF, it's a bit of a stretch to say we had no width before Bolaise arrived. You mentioned three in that post who are all players who give you that.

For me, it wasn't a priority and the cash should have been spent on a top second striker. We are literally a Lukaku leg break or cruciate away from oblivion.

they are all pacy and can give you a threat down the wing, but with the exception of Geri (who has a decent cross that he doesn't use enough) they are goal scorers 1st and providers last. Barkley is also more of Lampard/Cahill style finishing mid as well and we had the tendency of all these guys looking for goals with no one to provide service and/or space. Its not easy to convince a 20-30M striker to come to an 11th place side and then tell that guy to have a seat and/or do Okizaki-like grunt work as a 2nd fiddle for Rom for at least 1 season.

I was happy at throwing money at guys we need (williams, bolasie) instead of big money Marital/DePay like guys who could be really good someday. This side had talent the past 2 years. We just needed a couple pieces to make it whole. We addressed a lot over the transfer window except for No.2 striker and keeper and we have might have just gotten lucky with the keeper position.

Its pretty well known that we need depth at striker (and perhaps a No.1 next season) but I can't of anyone available and going with just Rom is a risk (though when we lost him for a month a couple years back Geri stepped up). Let's check back in January. Our league position might look a lot better to type of players who just feigned interest in us for a new contract. There might be some No.2s avail like Ulloa, Berhahino, Hernandez, Pelle etc. Or maybe we just revisit our courtship of Yarmalenko if they are out of the C-league.

Dont think it is unreasonable to credit some of our forward play to Martinez, if I am honest. Folk were quick to to say season 1 was a mix of him and Moyes, think its fair to say that some of the good he did is being added to by Koeman.

Koeman had to find a way to stop the rot. He always sorts out the defence and then builds on that. He has been clever that he had Lukaku and he needed to get him someone to feed him, Bolasie has done that for him. He knew he needed a pressing midfielder and Gana is manna from heaven.
I have no doubt Koeman will be looking for new players in the next window. He needs cover for Barry, he needs cover for Lukaku or even a partner for Lukaku. After yesterday, apart from the fact that he was fouled, Stek didn't cover himself in glory.
2/3 players in the next window would be brilliant or 2/3 of the right players would be brilliant.
I think we have become a much more attractive proposition for good players now that we have a manager who knows what he is doing.
I can only see better times ahead. Especially if the rumours about the stadium are correct.
