Chances created- assists. It's down to the players that have a chance created to turn it into an assist.
Where does it begin and end with that though? If a player clips a corner into the box into a ruck of players and it gets a touch goal-ward - is that a chance created?

And a chance created could be counted if a poor ball is played through which then is made into a half chance by the player the ball was intended for - that technically is a chance created.

You have to ask why the stats people make the distinction between 'assist' and 'chance created'. And that sort of stuff must be the explanation - or part of it. One is clear cut; the other is vague.

Indeed. Same as "shots saved". There's a difference between collecting a flicked header straight into your arms, and a flying save that plucks a shot out of the top corner.

I've likes him so far but he needs to swerve the rolling the ball with his studs thing. Make me wanna cut my eye lids off and thrown them are him

I have no problem with this. As a result, he can cut inside or knock and run down the outside and putting doubt in the mind of the defender who can't press as he could be beat by flicking the ball beyond him either way, so it's not utterly useless as it's the same as walking the ball at a defender; just flashier.

The problem is the player doing it.

I think that's why an 'assist' - one that results in a goal - is the only reasonably measurable stat...and even that is open to being skewed favourably.

I like Yannick a lot, think he'll rack the assists up.

So long as he continues to perform and not think he's able to coast now that he's put in a couple of decent performances. 'Luckily' for him the whole team were gash on Saturday but he will quickly have the crowd on his back if he doesn't fix this very soon.

If Ross gets benched then who is going to be the fall guy next?

Mate, have you heard of inflation? It's where goods rise in price over a period of time, I don't think you have taken this into account when quoting a Ribery or Robben at 25 mil in 2016

Neither of them would cost much more than that - I agree with Dave on this.

You're looking at £15mil for Ribery, £25mil for Robben - at 33 and 32 respectively.

He's started well in an Everton shirt, one poor performance and he's getting the transfer fee slammed down his gullet.

All very predictable.

As for the chances created vs assists discussion, if you're creating chances for Aguero his clinical finishing is going to result in your assist column looking better than if you're setting up Stuart Barlow. It ain't complicated.
