Laughing at the though of you believing that a mercenary gives a flying one if a team finished midtable or 7th.

Ha ha.
A mercenary probably looks at a team finishing 6th and thinks they might compete for Europe with extra players they look at a club finishing 11th and think that's a club that are competing with Stoke and Swansea. Hence not being able to attract 'Robben and Ribery' but being able to attract Bolasie. Regardless of how you spin it, finishing bottom half 2 years running makes you a bottom half club in the eyes of the media, other fans and players.

"Chances created" - if ever there was a BS nu-football measuring rod for the gullible punter it's that term.

You may as well attribute "corners won" as a significant indicator of value.

We all rave when it's Del or Barkley creating the chances. If a player puts a superb cross into the box - e.g. the cross Bolasie did to Valencia on Saturday (despite how bad he was on the whole) surely he's fulfilled his part of the bargain?

He was the worst player on the field , he should have been substituted but stayed on the field. However he has been good for us so far

Think this sums it up nicely.

However, what I would say is that because - despite how bad he was - he does have a habit of creating something out of nothing (e.g. that Valencia chance late on) may be the main reason he stayed on.

There you go lads. Not only should Bolasie be putting chances on a plate for strikers, he should also be controlling said strikers like puppets on strings and making sure they score the chances.

P.s Roberto Martinez is still the worst manager the Premier League has ever seen, in every sense of the term.

Here's the way most players view teams in the PL:

Those playing CL football / those not playing CL football

Those paying high wages / those not paying high wages

It's that simple. They're not arsed about what happened the season(s) before and whether a team finished 4 places higher or lower than expectations for them.

I would suggest that if two teams were offering the same wages to a transfer target and one had finished 5th the previous season whilst the other had finished 17th with equal prospects of first team football, the player would be more likely to choose the team who had finished 5th (ignoring other factors like London, etc)

Ergo, it's not that simple
