You know what's odd about this though?

I'm absolutely certain he'll have a blinder very soon - probably next game. And the usual suspects will be vaulting immediately.

Yet that one good game would actually confirm what most of us are saying about him.

I'd be more impressed with a run of five or so consistent games rather than one brilliant one and nine terrible ones.

He hasnt had 9 terrible ones though. He was our best outlet until the last 2 games.

Simply not true - he's the only one being used every game, not our only one full stop.

Mirallas and Deulofeu could do the same job, if not better, if given the same role every week.

He's been miserable thus far, not sure how you're not seeing it.

You say Bolasie is awful, inconsistent but then go on to say Mirallas, the very definition of inconsistent, would do a better job given a chance. Well he's played a good proportion of this season and has been a lot less productive than Bolasie. He's been bordering on terrible. Bolasie has numerous assists and offers a genuine threat. Mirallas does not.

Don't even get me started on Deulofeu. He hasn't been able to get himself fit for about 2 years, which is the basic requirement of a professional footballer. He wouldn't last half an hour doing Bolasie's role. We'd be calling him an ambulance ffs. He's an absolute joke and at the moment Bolasie is better value at whatever he cost compared to him because he can get himself fit!

As usual your argument makes no sense.

I've already explained this, as have many others - if you choose not to read, that's your problem, not mine.

And I'm no Mirallas fan.

I did read it. You say it as if it's fact when it's just your opinion. Perhaps 'all of our play' has gone through him because he's a lot better than the other options.

Can you honestly say Mirallas looked better last year than Bolasie does this year? Maybe it's not a coincidence that the current manager and the last one don't rate him.

You didn't answer my other points by the way.

I get the Lennon debate - he showed flashes last year that he can be productive
I get the Deulofeu debate - see above

Whatever position Mirrallas takes, whatever role he plays which is different to the other wingers is irrelevant imo.

The point is - is he making an impact? is he contributing?

And for 2 years now the answer is a resounding no. He has no excuses. He has been given games and done absolutely nothing.

He's got to go. Bolasie absolutely deserves his place ahead of him.

He does make things happen but our problem is we don't have enough threatening players. Bolasie and Lukaku are now marked tighter than ever because they are probably our only threats. The rest of the team mainly go around in circles and just distribute the ball to each other without any serious threat. We need to get in more threatening players (at a big cost albeit) to allow more freedom and more space to make us more dangerous. At the moment it is a struggle for Bolasie and Lukaku as they have a couple of players on them at times to nullify our threat entirely. Going to cost us big money but its the only way.

Again, I'm not a Mirallas fan. I could vault myself slating him as recently as this week saying he has no business being at the club.

My point isn't to sing the praises of Mirallas; it's to say Bolasie isn't offering any more than he would. They're both crap. As is Deulofeu at this point in time.

The issue is Bolasie cost double the amount of those two players combined and then some, so I expect an upgrade on Deulofeu at the very least - I'm not seeing it.

You're half right.

The problem is the rest of the team only because Lukaku and Bolasie don't bring others into play up the pitch, so we're beyond predictable.

That's been the problem with Lukaku during his entire career here, and it's been exacerbated by Bolasie.

So my view is that it's wrong to blame the rest of the team for not contributing, when absolutely nothing sticks in advanced areas if Bolasie and Lukaku don't show up for most of every game.

That's why I'm really not bothered about losing Lukaku, as we desperately need to shake things up and play a pressing game properly with the correct personnel to do it. If we brought in a player to go alongside Lukaku and do the legwork, leaving Lukaku as a glorified poacher, then fine - or even an attacking midfielder to knit the play up in a way Barkley simply cannot do - again fine. But I can't see that happening, and given Lukaku is already one foot out the door, we need to start getting a plan in place to give us more than just "Plan A: Hit Bolasie and hope something happens" - because quite clearly he's not consistent or good enough to rely on for that.
