Why worry about how much he costs? I dont get why fans get so upset about it, its not like its their money.

That is very true.

The problem is he cost so much money that he appears to be undroppable no matter how badly he plays.

We have three other wide men fighting for one place whilst his place in the side is assured.

That is the worry about paying way over the odds for a player like Bolasie.

As others have said, if we had paid a more realistic price and was used from the bench or substituted when he had been anonymous for an hour on the pitch, he wouldn't be under the microscope so much :(

Andrew Carroll signed for Liverpool nearly 6 years ago for £35 million.

Since then prices have carried on getting more and more inflated.

People whinged when we haven't spent money and now whinge that we have.

Is the £25mil we paid for Bolasie too much? Yes, definitely.

In the modern market, is it about par - arguably so.

You can, obviously, still pick up value. But now a player who scores 10 goals a season at PL level will cost you £30mil (see Deeney, Troy).

It is what it is.

You can still find cheaper/better players. You've just got to show a bit more imagination than going for Bolasie and Sissoko.

Deulofeu cost us a lot less last summer. They're very similar players.

This is the essential truth of the matter. Yes, we probably overpaid a bit but he is vastly better than Mirallas, Lennon or Kone, and more likely to get picked than Deulofeu is.

Mirallas this season has been awful but if when on form he's better than Bolasie.

More goals in his game, better link up play and a far more intelligent footballer.

Other than they're both wingers, they have literally no similarities in terms of playing style or the physical side of the game.

It's not about showing imagination.

Koeman identified players who would fit the style he is trying to implement.

Gueye, Bolasie, Williams etc.

Sissoko also. A quick, powerful player who can play anywhere in the midfield.

Sissoko would have fitted in well to this side. He'd have been playing instead of McCarthy on Saturday, for example.

Bolasie is jarg.

The sooner everyone realises this the better.

I'm still fuming we spunked a load of money in this utter galoot.

Nice one Steve Walsh.

Not a bad player when he can be arsed. But if theres one term that can never be attributed to Mirallas is "intelligent"
Every game now I'm waiting for him to do something special , this really is a long wait. If he had any sort of intelligence he would realise its all downhill for him if (or when) he leaves here.

You think Sissoko would have been a good signing?

I think he'd have offered more to us than McCarthy did the other day.

Don't get me wrong Zat, we could and should be in for better I think and I'm not gutted we didn't get him, but we do lack any power in our midfield.

True enough.

I question the point about the other three widemen "fighting" for their place.

Put it this way I wouldnt want to be side by side with them in the trenches if that's the most fight they can produce.

Khal, he's not playing because he cost us a lot of money.

He's playing because he's our leading assister and chance creator...

You're a great poster but my word, this 'anonymous' theory is ridiculous.

I'm sorry, but how can a player who is literally involved in ALL of our attacking play be classed as anonymous?

His form hasn't been great - in fact as you say recently he's been poor - but he still creates good chances and gets in good positions.

Now, the issue is we have nobody who is coming in and showing that they can have that effect, playing well or not.
