i do really like him, but he would have to be a bit part player if we have serious ambitions of getting where we want. Not writing tosun off already, but that kind of goes for him too. Hopefully this jan we can bring in that left back we need and either now or summer we need to invest heavily on a rock centre back, a real talented creative wide player and a big name striker. That would probably cost about £150m for those last three.

You usually see teams get in a great starting XI but have a weak and thin squad, sadly i think we've got it the wrong way around, we've got good numbers to have a deep squad to challenge on a couple of fronts ... but we have weaknesses in key areas. Bolasies career stats show that he's never going to be a player to get us top 4 and the rest of our wide players are all youngsters.

I'd agree with all of that. I would keep him as backup if Lookman wasn't a better prospect.

I agree with literally every word he said.

In 20 games, that cousin-fornicator across the park has scored more than half the 10 year career total of goals Bolasie.

In 20 games.

20 games in the premier league and not while playing in the lower leagues...

Makes no sense how people can rate him when they can use their eyes and the stats...

?? I'm sure McGeady had a few good games for us,and for Ireland, and I probably said so at the time, way back in the dawn of history. Trawling that far back, you really have a problem. Take it easy and enjoy life.

re-read my post, I asked if you liked McGeady...I didn't 'trawl' through your posts...

Couldn't agree more with this post.

Just stating the obvious ;)

Zat you are wrong about Bolasie. He is a great outlet. Keeps opposition defenders worried and on the back foot. Like all wingers around the world he is frustrating but against Liverpool we would have been camped in our own half but for him. Doesn't matter what winger we play if no one is busting to get in the box then the crosses are pointless. The relief he provided for us against Liverpool was the only thing that actually kept us in the game. He has come back from a year out due to serious injury and is playing OK. Gives us another dimension. Want to see him with Tosun rather than DCL

Ok...so lets say that Tosun Is a good a header as Ferguson was. I reckon he would score goals from good deliveries...

Snag is (as evidenced against the RS) Bolasie doesn't even look where he crosses...its almost like since learning to play football hes been taught to watch his feet while he does little pointless tricks and then to punt it in the general direction of the box.

I'm certain he will get some assists with Tosun and they may look world class balls too...but its going to be at random.

On the point about him relieving pressure...I kind of agree but I think if we had DCL in his position he could have run the ball out and got tackled a lot too...its not like he actually did anything, you know? When lookman came on...that's another story, some of the things lookman has done, weve never seen bolasie do in his career.

If were being hypothetical about the team...next season;

On the left side we will have Onyekuru joining and have Lookman there already. For me, those two can rotate.
In attacking midfield we have Sigurdsson and also Vlasic and Dowell so were stocked there also.
On the right of midfield we have Bolasie and Lennon, neither of whom are good enough.

Personally, I would offload both Bolasie and Lennon + sign a real talented creative wide player then use either Vlasic/Dowell as cover there also as both are able to play on the right side.

That way we have all positions covered with 2 players and have 2 'star' players out of 3 positions and 4 u21 players getting experience and improving...

I think this says more about our dumb purchasing strategy and draw as a club. There's no way Bolassie is worth over £20 million. Yet we paid it. Salah, for £36 million is a steal by comparison. But make no mistake, he's a top talent and has been for years. He's consistently played at top end clubs. At the minute we can't attract those kinds of players, certainly without the champions league on offer and a credible forward plan.

I keep saying that I would be way happier with Moyes style bargain gems than decent but not outstanding buys for stupid fees.
Fans can criticise Moyes for a lot of things, but not his overall business in the transfer market.

This more or less mirrors my own thoughts on Bolasie.

He has qualities that will make him a threat against teams that like to keep the game open and defend with a high line, but he wouldn't get a sniff at any the clubs that Everton aspire to catch.

Criminal waste of £27m, but hopefully the squad will soon improve to a point where he's no longer considered part of the strongest XI.

Applies to all bar pickford I suppose. Teams should always aspire to catch anyone above them but it becomes very difficult when they are spending £50m upwards for players and paying them between 150k - 250k per week. Every position in the Everton team can be replaced with better players and that is what a manager should be looking at all the time but priorities come first. I like Bolasie I confess but some on here are expecting Ronaldo. Even Ronaldo would get slated on here if he failed in a take on. Bolasie has played less than 20 games for us so let him be for a while. Lookman is inconsistent but shows promise. He had a decent game but no better than Bolasie in the Liverpool game. But then again that's my opinion and my opinion won't be swayed even if you start frothing at the mouth.

He brought some duds too. It's easy for fans to criticise as I expect it's not an easy thing to do well. But we've not performed well for the money spent recently.
Every manager has signed duds, even the most successful manager ever, Ferguson bought some absolute dross to United. Of course the key is signing more successful signings than duds, moyes was very much in the credit with regard to this.

He could hardly be blamed for it, but the Bolasie signing was essentially the starter's gun for an era of unprecedented waste and downgrade at Everton.

Nigh-on every signing after that has been massively overpriced.

Was it just me who thought he was s decent outlet against the RS and seemed to perform well without crapping his pants like most of our players do? His pace meant that at least one of their players couldn’t engage in their mad pressing and for the first Derby in a while we actually had comfortable possession at times because they couldn’t commit everyone to swarming us.

 What a mad thing to say.

Id say the willingness of some of our fans to accept such a dross footballer and hail his bang average performance as one of our best of the night is exactly why we will continue to lose games like this.

Acceptance of average is unacceptable for me and I expect to see a higher calibre of footballer in my Everton than the useless twit that is Bolasie.

Lookman did more in his cameo than Bolasie has done in the last 3 games hes been back for!

Lookman did more did he? If you say so. Don't let hatred of players consume you to the point of delirium. Lookman had a good cameo and so far Lookman is average or below. Potential is good. Have you seen the rest of the Everton team....are any of them playing above average at the moment? No!.

You are entitled to your opinion of course like I am disagreeing with you. Don't exaggerate though as it's unbefitting. Bolasie had a decent game and helped us out in an attacking sense. That is my opinion which of course is not blinkered by hatred. Who do you actually think may have done a better job on the right in an attacking sense? Who do you think would have been better in that position without becoming another defender? The first thing Lookman did when he came on was to lose the ball and I bet you said 'unlucky lad' whereas Bolasie loses the ball and it's 'useless bar steward, your crap'. Both of these players helped us on the front foot but like any winger lost the ball also. You cannot have a safe winger as they would be deemed as ineffective whereas Bolasie has a go. We are never going to agree but I see a wingers success as little as 50 - 50 with take ons and then we need a striker ready in position for a cross that may come instead of being behind play.

brings some refreshing stuff to our play.

just seeing him trying to get past his man was a rarity in this year's Ebebton

Him and Lookman on the other side of Cenk would be killer
