2017/18 Yannick Bolasie

I thought he was doing the "Funky Chicken" a couple of times out there yesterday. His end product for 90% of the match was utterly woeful. I tweeted that his lack of skills made the baby Jesus cry. Then he went ballistic for 15 minutes. Almost as if he was possessed. If we can have that Yannick then fine, but unfortunately I think we'll get much more of the Funky Chicken dancing Yannick.

Most of what he did ended up in nothing yesterday but oppositions tend to put 2 men on him most of the time because he's unpredictable. He did look better yesterday but that wasn't hard given what's come before.

Exactly. Team are afraid of him. They have to plan for him.

His end product was crap yesterday, but it's not ALWAYS been crap and he's clearly still getting fit. He's still someone I want on the squad. Can play both wings, is unpredictable, can create something out of nothing, and worked his tail off yesterday.

He had 10 min in the second half where it finally clicked for him (the rest of the game he was average at best), probably because he didn't try to do any tricks like he usually does when he first gets the ball. He's strong, quick and powerful and that should be what he uses to beat people, rather than that silly ball drag he constantly does. His attitude and work rate is brilliant.

He got subbed at half time yesterday and has generally been on the bench for them. I don't really think we are missing that much at this point.

Wasn’t suggesting Lookman is the finished article. I understand he has some attitude issues. Always thought he did best for us coming off the bench. When he started games, he seemed to drift & lack focus. Coming off the bench he looked like he had a point to prove (I know that applies to lots of players).

Confidence player, as has been said before, start to do more good things and hopefully playing a man possessed will become more of the norm. Never in a million years worth his value but he is a useful squad asset imo because of your awkward and unorthodox he is.

Don't get me wrong, I like the lad and think he has a bright future. I just don't think we are missing too much at this point in time with him. Hopefully his time in Liepzig will teach him some silky German skills and he will come back to us a better player.

Having Baines back in behind him helped as well. I still think Bolasie is a useless random cross generator but some of the random crosses he puts in, statistically speaking, must end up in dangerous positions from time to time and your point about him pulling defenders out of position is a fair one.

Having baines back transformed the squad, the balance we lost without a proper left back was crippling. Every attack going through cuco died instantly as well as being a weak point to attack for oppositions. Bolasie definitely benefited from baines, if they can start to form a partnership for the last few games we might get a few more points than expected.

Just underlines what we all said about failing to get a left back in in jan
