I remember reading the top Barca forum about this guy and Gomes and they were all rapturous over there that they were not at the club anymore, they were in unison being delirious at the fee payed for Mina as well.

Gomes wasn't good reading either over there i should add.

Different players excel in different systems, in different leagues and under different managers.

Barcelona not wanting Mina or Gomes doesn't mean they are poor players or not good enough for Everton. Their fans being happy to see the back of them doesn't mean they can't go elsewhere and succeed.

Let's be honest here Barcelona and Everton are operating in completely different spheres and targeting very different quality of player. Given time Gomes and Mina could be very good players for us.

He's come into a team that are really really poor at defending.

How much of the poor defending and indecision at the back would you put at the feet of Pickford?

How much of it would you put down to inconsistency in selection?

I think both of those things are hindering our defensive performances. Would be good to have a back 4 of Coleman, Mina, Keane, Digne selected for 6-8 games on the run. Hopefully get a settled Pickford behind them. He's been so erratic this last few months and thinks he's a bigger contributing factor to the defence than a lot of people care to admit.

Not even judging him this season, he's new, had no pre-season, doesn't speak the language, is struggling with injuries and being chopped and changed. It's impossible to tell how he will do but it takes time to settle, I'd argue that for Bernard also.

Pickford has been poor this season. He wasn't great at Sunderland but I guess he had potential. 30M worth of potential? I'm not sure. I think our forwards and midfielders don't help. We're supposed to be a pressing team. Fine, but not if only one or two do so from the front. In order to press well the whole team has do do that. One or two from the front isn't even worth it. Bypass them and the opposition are in our two man midfield of Gueye and Gomes who are out numbered. It's like we play 4-2-4 sometimes. The team isn't being coached right or the players are just incapable. Maybe they're not intellegent enough (no disrespect to them) but maybe they just need to play the game in a simple way and then we add players who can understand the way the manager would like to play.

Yobo would be our best centre half by an absolute country mile. He was genuinely good, an occasional brainfart away from being top class.
And those are going to continue for awhile. But his potential is immense. He's worth the risk. He could be our Koulibaly.
