First thread I've looked in in the Everon forum since Monday and it's taken just one page to understand why

Absolutely unbelievable.
Interesting to know your take on the situation. Is his regular lack of availability for Everton not even a slight concern? Surely we need our best players to be consistently available.

I would say that he's probably unavailable for 20-30% of our games which means he's probably available for 70-80%.

In my book that makes him regularly available rather than regularly unavailable.

When he plays he is far and away our best defender and if we sell him we would not attract a better defender to Everton.

We’ll only form a stable centre-back partnership if our best centre-back is consistently available. Coming in and out of the team regularly doesn’t help that. This season we’ve played 12 games and Yerry hasn’t figured in 6 of them (2 he was on the bench but didn’t get on so clearly not fit enough to start). That’s 50% of games this season. I really rate him but we aren’t in a position to miss influential players so regularly.

Sorry. Didn't realise we only bought him in August. My bad

It's shameful that we're left with Holgate, Keane and Godfrey to choose from. All Championship players at best.
To an extent, I think that’s a bit unfair.

I think Godfrey has the potential or capability to be a good PL player under the right guidance. His positioning isn't a strength, but it could be developed.

Unfortunately, COVID appears to have really impacted on him both physically and mentally, so we're seeing him below what we expect from last year.

Keane has many positive attributes, which he has shown, but without a strong partner to make a partnership and guide them all his frailties come out.

To be fair, that's not good enough really for what we need although on an individual level he's technically more capable han we are currently seeing.

Holgate isn't good enough - I'll admit that one.

Agree on this, vital we give him a new contract.
We have no chance of attracting similar quality, its one reason why Rafael is blameless in the current state of the club.

Mentally they are all Championship level or below that.

They're both followers who need a leader next to them

Should be blocking him from Colombia games until next year due to his persistent injuries. He's injured now, one game to go until intentional break. No way at all he should be getting back to fitness starting high profile games for his country.
Reminds me of when Coleman would constantly get picked for Ireland when he was half fit.

If I recall correctly he got a stress fracture while on international duty. Good old Martin O’Neil and his archaic training methods.
