After being corrected on the number of matches by my good friend @Barnfred 55 it seems Yerry has actually missed 40% of matches, way higher than my previous calculations and reason to be concerned if one looks at the 3 seasons together. But 33 of those matches missed were during his first season with Everton. Last season he missed 13% of matches. Hopefully this season he manages to stay healthy after his current injury. Regardless, I still think that he is worth offering a new contract to.
Not that I'm bringing your math into question again Sass, but I think you'll find that the games missed stat is all club games, not just league games. Also that first injury stat covers games at both Barcelona and Everton so it will be less than 33 games in the first season, probably closer to 25 given that he actually played in 15 games that season and there would have been some games when he was fit but not played.

I reckon he's probably missed around 30% of games due to injury during his tenure here, but as you say over the last 2 years it has probably been less than 20%. Obviously I wish he was fit every game, but I really don't think missing a fifth of our games through injury is a good reason to sell our best defender, especially as we won't be able to replace him by anybody anywhere near as good. He is also a leader and a snide. i'd make him captain.

Are you sure? ;)

You are probably right about the stat being all club games and he missing less games the first season. So while calculating the three seasons together may seem like he has missed a lot of games for Everton the reality is that he hasn’t missed as many as some people make it to be. And like you say, it is not a good reason to sell him. He brings a lot to the team and I also would like to see him being made a captain, instead of shipping him away.

Arrived as a crock, will probably depart as one too, shame really as I feel he could well have at least achieved cult hero status here as for all his troubles is still our best actual defender.

Well I’m Colombian and follow the NT faithfully so I can tell you that he has also missed games for Colombia in the past. And while I understand your frustration, I don’t think your statement that he is unavailable for us for many games to be accurate either. According to the chart above (I’m sorry it posted that way but for some reason my pics are not wanting to post on the right spot) he has missed a total of 45 games from 2018-2021. At the premier league, currently, teams are playing 380 matches per season. So let’s say in the past 3 seasons there has been an average of 1,140 matches played. Thus in reality Mina has only missed about 4% of Everton matches. For me, given the quality he brings to the team, doesn’t seem like far too many games. Would I want him to always be fit, surely. But we must not forget that players are not machines. Playing that many matches per season can be grueling on the body.
I’d say my statement on the whole is pretty accurate. I wish it wasn’t and that Yerry played every week. But it is and he doesn’t.

The big man's moonlighting on Showtrial, Marcel signed it off apparently ?
