Young EFC Players Out On Loan 16-17

Echo says Garbutt is back at Finch Farm - undecided if they will send him out on loan again.

I suspect he stays if the Oviedo to Sunderland links are true.

...Oviedo going nowhere apparently;

Actually makes sense given he was chosen as cover ahead of Galloway at the start of the season.

Do you reckon he's got much of a future mate? Never seems to do anything while on loan at a lower level.

couple of bad loan moves for Garbutt have really knocked him back I think. The seaosn he broke through he looked impressive, particularly in Europe. I sense his opportunity with us may have passed him by unless he can prove himself over the next few months to koeman. May have to impress Unsworth first though.

If Bryan is indeed staying, I can see Luke going out on another loan tbh

Jeez yeah. Wonder why we haven't brought him back yet? I thought it was strange that he was sent there in the first place, he's clearly not physical enough for Tony Pulis' rugby club, hence why they're playing a 6ft 4 meathead right back in his place. Reckon we should recall him and send him back out to a top-end Championship side personally.
Nyom is 6ft 2, Galloway is 6ft 1 - not sure size is the reason he's being left out. He's also preferred Brunt there, who is no bigger than Galloway.

Pulis has no say in this at all, he's our player. There will have been an option to recall in case we had a few injuries and were short on numbers.
I doubt it, it's extremely rare for premier league clubs to agree to recall clauses as it means they can't plan their squads for the season.

Didn't Chelsea just recall Ake? Baffles me that we wouldn't add a clause, if it was a youth team player fair enough but Galloway has been first team cover for a full season.

Galloway was excellent last year and I wouldn't put too much stock in Pulis not playing him. It's a shame but I won't write him off.

Yeah they did. It's possible, absolutely, but it's rare. If you remember, there was a load of fuss about whether Chelsea could recall Lukaku when we had him but it turned out they couldn't. I remember City loaning out Hart to Birmingham and ending up playing a kid in goal because they couldn't get him back too. I would very much think that we would have recalled him months ago if we could.

...of course Galloway isn't a RB and he's struggling for game time at LB. I doubt we have any power to recall him, his contract with the Baggies is until the end of the season.

...I'm sure the club would be happier getting rid but I don't know if there will be many takers given his struggle at Wigan. Shame really. I was amazed he chose to sign a new contract when his stock was quite high and he could've left on a lucrative Bosman.

Loyalty to Martinez perhaps? Or maybe because we offered to loan him out if he signed?

He always maintained he wanted minutes over money, which I can respect.

No what I mean is they're playing a right back at left back instead of Galloway, that says he's clearly not fancied there. A proper waste of a season for Galloway, really disappointing from our point of view.

...not sure recall is possible under the terms of the contract. West Ham were woefully short of strikers a month ago and couldn't recall Valencia. The press actually said Bilic would have to beg Everton to release the player.

...sorry for the confusion. I suspect we didn't send him for experience but with a view to a permanent deal.

...I really don't know the reason, Mikey. I have to say if I was advising him he would have left. He was a regular in the England U21 side and had a reputation for delivering 'wicked' crosses. I even thought a bottom half Premier side would take him. I have no idea why he re-signed, Baines was in front of him and unlikely to be deposed. I don't get the loyalty thing, in his situation he needed to look after himself.

I think he could have thought that a good year on loan could see him edge his way in to the set up

It's not unreasonable

I wouldn't have blamed him for leaving though, minutes were what he needed. He got them at Fulham but didn't make anything of them
