Have you saw much of him Eggs mate? I've seen very little other than that Norwich game last year where admittedly he was very good.

...only clips, Tim but he's always had an eye for a goal. Seem to remember him scoring a fine goal in Gwladys St for the kids. He's a good size and shape for a modern day defender. Problem he'll have is getting a chance with us.

Good experience for Connolly and didn't let himself down , 3 1/2 months at Wigan helping them to fight relegation won't do him any harm if he's playing every week. Think there's England games afterwards , then back for pre season and who knows.
Yes, thought he did alright and, as you say, good experience for him.

On a side point whenever I see Fellaini he is always one of MU's most effective performers - yet they still hate him. Moyes, Van Gaal and Mourinho all rate him.

They hate him because they can't stand his style of play and the long ball that comes with him.

wigan are on telly again on friday against sheff wed, so another chance to see how connolly gets on in what should be more competitive game.

Hold up play wise and in the air he is where we want Rom to be. Doesn't quite have the talent Rom does, but he is massive and very skilled for his size. He would have been the perfect compliment to Rom but he no longer plays with us sadly

Plenty of us watched the match but...

FA Cup
Wigan Athletic - Callum Connolly played full match in 0-4 away defeat to Manchester United

OS Match Report
"Latics’ best the half came after 11 minutes and it was Callum Connolly forcing a good save from Sergio Romero after he latched on to a Dan Burn knock-down from Max Power’s free-kick floated into the box."
"Latics had a great chance to get level after 54 minutes when Romero punched Connolly’s right wing cross only as far as David Perkins, twenty yards from goal. The shot was low and on target but Romero was able to get down smartly to save."
"Connolly almost connected with Power’s free-kick floated in from the right side but seconds later, Latics found themselves three down when a lightning quick break saw Mkhitaryan feed Martial and the Armenian international bundled home from close range having begun the move."

Twitter stuff
20' - Latics dominating possession, but only one real chance so far, from Callum Connolly (not Jacobs as we first thought!) (0-0)
39' Fanastic clearance with a diving header in his own box from Connolly to stop a quick United break through Mata (0-0)
73' CHANCE LATICS. Connolly header from a Max Power free kick straight at Romero (2-0)

No particular fan comments about his performance - most thought that he didn't stand a chance against Fellaini for the goal and that possibly their keeper should have come out for the ball.

I had a quick scoot around recognising I have a biased view, most papers were favourable , some critical of the GK for not coming out rather than Connolly for the goal, and a few Evertonian twitters were positive too. I'm not sure how many attempts on goal Wigan had, Connolly's shot was the first, one by Power later that half then Connolly's header second half , so whatever the final total , he had a good % of their on target attempts, not bad from right back.
