He says:

"Well, we can have him for two years. We're in the process of building an excellent relationship with Everton. Otherwise this wouldn't have been possible."

Bodes well for any Dendoncker deal you'd suspect? Oh and whilst you're here what are your thoughts on some of the other young players there. Remember watching the UEFA Youth League a few years ago and they had a winger called Kawaya that was good? And some very young keeper, Svilar or something.

Yes you'd think so; plus it will also help that Lukaku had a good Everton experience since he's an ambassador of Anderlecht and he regularly visits the kids etc so that's also a positive (plus he's friends with Dendoncker).

Anderlecht youth teams are always excellent. I normally watch them in Youth CL (it's cheap and friendly); in 15-16 they beat Barcelona etc. Problem is progressing to the first team - you have to win the title every year (doesn't happen but if you don't you're probably getting sacked) so a lot of these players don't get a chance (unless exceptional talents like Tielemans, Kompany, VDB ...). In the case of Kawaya; he was excellent, but he has been plagued with loads of injuries that have lead to him being sold this season to KVM (I honestly believe he'll do good there). His highlight so far was his role in the 3-3 at the Emirates a couple of years ago.

And Svillar is excellent but he's a bit of a giant idiot. He demanded that he'd be first choice GK of Anderlecht this year (he's only 17 years old). So Anderlecht said as a compromise; that isn't possible you aren't ready, but we're willing to grant you a loan. He says no; he absolutely wants to be the first choice GK of Anderlecht or get a definitive transfer. So now they are only communicating via lawyers, since he refuses to train. He still has a contract until 2019, interested how that will turn out. You can have ambition, but this is just plain stupid.

Svilar does sound a boob then. Just remember him popping up in one of those "one to watch" series on The Guardian website. Good young goalkeepers seem to be few and far between.

Dowell getting rave reviews (though there are some critical voices who mainly get shouted down)

"This kid is [Poor language removed] hot. Seriously. A natural. His technique is spotless and his mind is two passes ahead of everyone else.

He will be this year's Tammy Abraham - the loan signing every team in the league wish they'd made....

When he receives the ball, time seems to stand still and he appears to be in complete control of it.

That's when you know someone is a good player. With some other players you never feel they're in complete control. Or players close them down and you know they're going to lose it.

Every time he got the ball I was anticipating something special. Nearly everything he tries comes off too. Very talented kid, a real shame he's not ours

Championship
Barnsley & Nottingham Forest - Joe Williams & Kieran Dowell played full matches on opposite sides in a 2-1 home win for Barnsley, Williams also getting booked

OS Match Report (Barnsley)
OS Match Report (Forest)
"Barrie McKay chased onto a through ball from Dowell and provided a perfect pin-point cross for Murphy who placed a header past Adam Davies in the Barnsley goal."
"The Gambian international charged through the middle to free Dowell on the right of the penalty area. The Everton loanee was in plenty of space but opted for a first-time shot which he hit tamely straight at Davies."

Twitter stuff (Barnsley)
43 - The game is so end-to-end as we approach half-time and Forest whip in another corner, J. Williams clears on the line.
87 - Joe Williams is shown the yellow card on the wing.

Twitter stuff (Forest)
34' Barnsley 1-1 #NFFC: Kieran Dowell almost spots Adam Davies off his line but the Barnsley goalkeeper gets back to claim the ball.
55' Barnsley 2-1 #NFFC: Wonderful back-heel from Dowell sends Darikwa into the box but his effort is blocked away by Davies.
84' Barnsley 2-1 #NFFC: Carayol rolls the ball in to Dowell inside the Barnsley penalty area but he shoots straight at Davies.
87' Barnsley 2-1 #NFFC: Joe Williams is shown a yellow card for Barnsley following a number of late challenges.

Fan comments (Barnsley)
"can sumdi tek that Williams back to bleedin Everton , he's weak n clueless"
"We leave the midfield open at times. Williams just wants to win the ball back. Sometimes he's got to think of the bigger picture. 40 yards away from goal isn't the time to be pressuring, just sit back and get a good shape and they will not beat us."
"Barnsley played 4-5-1 with the central midfield trio arranged in a triangle with Williams at its defensive point. In the first half, Barnsley worked exceptionally hard and were able to dominate because of that. Nevertheless, Forest were always dangerous on the break, and Williams struggled to cope on his own at times as Moncur and Potts were often caught by the pace of the Forest breakaways.... There were some very tired bodies in red and white by the end, but the prize for effort beyond the call of duty goes to Williams, who is the first player that I have witnessed throwing up on a football field during a first team game."

Fan comments (Forest - some already listed above)
"Getting on the young kid Dowell's back is ridiculous! For the last two games, some have been suggesting he's a class above. That's equally nonsense. He's a young lad, still learning his trade. He's got some talent, but is going to make mistakes. That's HOW you learn. To lay the defeat at his door because he didn't convert the ONE chance that came his way...well, take a look at yourselves."
"Dowell is a frustrating player. Some fantastic touches and passes. Then horrible finishing, and pushed out of duells like a small kid."
"That Dowell lad is going to be a great player."
"That Everton lad has got a ****ing great touch and seems to create space around him. Really good to watch..."
"Two words. Kieran Dowell. A special footballer, whenever we gave him the ball we were dangerous. A pleasure to watch."
"Dowell looked excellent bar the missed easy chance."
"His awareness is on another level. Was that two perfectly weighted backheels in the space of 10 minutes onto the path of Darikwa, absolutely sublime."
"Best player on the pitch by an absolute country mile. Couple of naive moments but that's expected."
"The backheels to Darikwa :) Some of his touches and turns were different class. Such a shame he couldn't finish that glorious chance."
"Enjoy this kid while we've got him. Won't see a more naturally gifted footballer like him for a while in a Forest shirt.
Brilliant loan by Warburton, fair play to Everton for trusting Warburton with a footballer who could one day be an England regular."

Antonee Robinson was an unused sub for Bolton's game against Birmingham

Championship
Sunderland - Tyias Browning and Brendan Galloway (who was booked) played full matches in 1-1 draw away to Sheffield Wednesday

OS Match Report
"The perfect start. And it could have been even worse for Wednesday as they failed to track Brendan Galloway, but after overlapping McGeady his cross was just behind the on-rushing Black Cats."
"And Galloway also went close after diving down the left, with Westwood gathering at the second attempt to deny Grabban a tap-in."

Twitter stuff
30' Brilliant defending from @tybrowning to keep #SAFC ahead as the hosts ramp up the the pressure

Fan comments
"Galloway got forward first half and got to the byline and him n Mcgeady seem to have an understanding. I haven't been Browning's biggest fan but he seems to be getting better and better. .."
"Thought he'd (Jones) be ok in this league but, similar to Galloway, he gets beaten far too easily to the byline."

Still love this thread , even more than the base banter in the transfer window thread.
I'm off to see if I can find the Mcgeady thread in the world section. Nearly forgot about him until he was mentioned in here.

Forest fans have always appreciated class.

It is, but I suspect his loan is more for his benefit in finding a club, whereas Browning and Galloway both need games to see whether they have a future with us. I've no doubt Pennington will return and find a decent club at Championship level.
True say, Mr Wayne

I'm not sure of that re Pennington, I wouldn't write him off for us just yet. We've said a few times that our perspective on players has changed and we're now prepared to give them longer to develop. It's certainly the case that defenders , particularly CBs , mature later , and while it's clear we don't have a Stones on our hands he's done well on his loans wherever he's been and particularly his attitude , maturity and willingness to learn. It may be that he's 24 or 25 before we really know, the trouble is of course is that for us it's a long time to wait. Hes got two more years on his contract to prove himself .
