Yes, I deliberately looked for any mention of injury or other comment about him being left out but couldn't find anything. Maybe we'll get more of an idea on Wednesday. Birmingham Mail said that Carsley went for a 'more experienced' bench.

Thanks as ever mate, it's amazing what you pick up not just about our players . I see Newcastle's Adam Armstrong is on loan at Bolton and getting stick from the fans. A year ago he was ahead of DCL as one if England U20s regular attackers, and may have started the first game at the World Cup ahead of DCL. How things change, and someone posted a few weeks ago that DCL should go on loan, not easy for these youngsters trying to find their feet in the Championship.

This is one of the dangers when loaning players out. Ideally you need a stable club and manager otherwise you are courting disaster.

I saw Bolton's first game of the season and if that's a true indication of how they always play then it's hard to imagine a PL academy kid settling well there. Very physical and lots of hoofing. Not much in terms of pass and move combinations etc.

...yep, Antonee Robinson is clearly struggling to make an impression at Bolton. I like him and want him to do well, let's hope he turns things around like Joe Williams has.

I was listening to the game on the radio and the start of the game when Forest were on top he seemed to be involved in everything, clever touches and passes (sometimes too clever for his teammates). After Villa scored and got on top didn't hear his name so much, but then didn't hear much of Forest going forwards after that anyway. Missed the end of the half and the second half.

Dowell didn't really stand out yesterday.
 
Unfortunately a lot of our lads are at loan at clubs that are struggling. Normally when that is the case more experienced pros are selected at the expense of youth. It takes a brave manager to do otherwise to pick youth in those circumstances, no matter how talented they are.

Would worry about Walsh being under carsley. Who's definitely more likely to pick players like him when a team is struggling, players who are going to scrap and fight.

Seems like there wasn't much thought, into his loan. Thrashed out last minute.
