Young EFC Players Out On Loan 17-18

Preferably you want to loan a player to a good club that is completely lacking in their position (Everton with Lukaku for instance). We have been forced to loan our players to struggling clubs, and I'm not sure how that will affect their confidence in upcoming seasons. This is where mental toughness really comes into play as well.

Would worry about Walsh being under carsley. Who's definitely more likely to pick players like him when a team is struggling, players who are going to scrap and fight.

Seems like there wasn't much thought, into his loan. Thrashed out last minute.

i dunno, carsley thought of as one of top youth coaches in the country so hopefully that will be good for walsh over next few months. having said that not a good sign he wasnt in the 1st squad!

I thought Walsh playing under redknapp would have been a good fit personally. He does like footballing sides and Walsh would flourish in such teams. However Lee Carsley is the total opposite, flair players will be sacrificed, as first and foremost he will want to make city difficult to beat.

Sure, most of the teams might be struggling at the moment but you couldn't really have classed Barnsley, Forest, Sunderland and Leeds as probable strugglers in the pre-season.

I think, as the local paper implied, that Carsley might have gone for experience rather than someone who can 'scrap and fight' as I would have thought that was also a feature of Walsh's game.

I'm not sure if I'm reading your "players like him" right as of all our players out on loan I d pick Walsh first as being " a player who's going to scrap and fight" , followed closely by Joe Williams. Walsh showed on his loan to Yeovil that he's up for a relegation scrap, he'll pick up a few yellow cards along the way mind but he'll be up for it. I like Carsely as a coach/manager of young players I think he'll be good for Walsh, whether he can hold onto the job is another matter.
When Carsely had the right material to work with , I.e. Man City youngsters he showed he can be an attacking coach who gets his teams to play with flair.

I rarely post a "thanks" to you @atrottel (kinda feel like I'd be clogging the thread up so I usually just leave it at a 'like') but I have to say how much I always appreciate your reports.;)

I know Walsh can scrap & fight, my point was he's more likely to go for a Gardner who's bigger stronger? And has more experience.

I hope I'm wrong. And like I said yesterday, managing a youth team is totally different to managing a 1st team in the relegation zone.

Due to the poor management of our summer window we have been left with a creaky defender, no top line striker and no productive wide players. Obviously we have also invested heavily in the youth and I think we now need at least 3 of these lads to develop into quality first team players or we are going to have a difficult next 2 to 3 years seeing as all the Lukaku money has been spent on 3 sub standard number 10's

From what I have seen I think Kenny has a real chance and Davis as well if he can improve a bit more physically. I think DCL will make it but it is difficult to predict if he will be a squad player or has the potential to be a long term starter.

Who do you guys think has the best chance out of our players under 21?

Walsh I think is the best of the lads we have either in the 23's or out on loan in my opinion. Great range of passing off either foot, puts himself about and has the ability to score the odd worldie too. Like Davies he also has the ability to dictate the tempo of play and is always on the move. Proper footballer Walsh.

Davies is a first teamer for me, adds verve and go forward to our midfield. DCL and Holgate are for the future and wouldn't be starting with more depth but are good options and will go on to be starters. Kenny we haven't seen much of, but his pedigree and performances so far have been very good so here's hoping. The real questions I have are actually around the ones on loan in the championship. Dowell has some class about him but needs to involve himself a bit more, Browning has been solid if unspectacular for the Mackems and may be a bench player moving forward, while Galloway has been atrocious. Williams is not of the level required(imo) but will do well at a Championship level, while Walsh is a bit small but a quality player, the main concern is whether the manager would play him due to his size. I haven't seen enough of Connoly to have an opinion.

Agree with you on Walsh. Re Holgate and Galloway both appear to be stuck between the fullback and CB positions. Difficult to predict on Lookman and the boy on loan at Anderlect
