Young EFC Players Out On Loan 17-18

...apparently the rules allow January recalls. It’ll be interesting if this is enforced for any loanees. You have to think Dowell, Williams and Onyekuru would enhance the squad. I’m not certain it would be good for Dowell and Williams but needs must.

theres no way we're taking dowell back in january, we need a massive clear out before we can give any attacking midfielders a chance.

Think Galloway is out of picture altogether as not done anything to impress . Not sure if Browning is injured as thought he was doing ok .. no Kone today either and not even on bench. ... not looking good for either of them

..yep, commentator has confirmed Browning is injured and Galloway is no longer ‘on the scene’.

Just shows how much of a tightrope these kids walk. Both Garbutt and Galloway looked to have bright futures having shown well when injury gave them opportunities in our first team and regular starters for England U21s. Then a couple of disastrous loans each and both look absolute wrecks by comparison.

The only one I'd recall is Walsh who's at the wrong club. Seemed like a good move when 'Arry was in charge, did well in the couple of games he played under him. Then 'Arry gets sacked, Carsley takes over as caretaker and brings back all the old pros, leaving out all the youngsters. Then Cotterill comes in and does the same. Whenever I've seen them it's more like a battle than a football match and the younger players that he's brought back, including some of the loanees, have been big 6' plus specimens. All the Birmingham fans say they can't keep hold of the ball but even so Walsh can't get a look in. Bring him back!
Walsh’s loan is only until January . He’s apparently injured at the moment but come January it’s an opportunity to either get him back or make sure his loan is somewhere where he’ll be played. Looking at Birmingham ‘s league position Walsh is exactly the kind of player they need to help avoid relegation....... so he’s coming back to us then.

Walsh isn't injured, he's just not in the squad, same as 3 other loan players including Sam Gallagher from Southampton, who are rumoured to want him back because he's not n the team. Walsh has just been unlucky in that Redknapp got the sack and the new manager prefers experienced championship players - though that might change if they carry on losing.

In contrast, Dowell is being handled superbly by Mark Warburton who's playing him in his correct position, not stuck out on the wing, takes him off when he's tiring and left him out after a couple of sloppy mistakes but quickly brought him back when the lesson was learnt. He should stay there all season.

are you sure hes not injured? why havent we played him in some of our u23 games if that was the case?

We can't play him 'cos he's at Birmingham. Not injured according to their local press but just not being selected along with the other loanees. Apparently they are paying something like £45,000 a week for Sam Gallagher, taking into account wages and loan fees, and still not playing him. Walsh has been so unlucky in the last 12 months with niggling injuries, then breaking a toe on the day he was to be names in the U20 WC squad, then Redknapp getting the sack two games into his loan spell. I'm sure he would have had time in our 1st team under Unsworth if he was still here.

Well it’s an odd if Walsh is not injured, as I said in an earlier post he’s the type of player who relishes a relegation scrap as he proved on his loan at Yeovil . Gallagher has played in their last two games including starting on Saturday, so I don’t know what to make of it.

I wouldn't bring in any of them. With our start I think top 7 may be out of it so I would use the rest of the season to figure out what we actually have with our new players. We have spent the past few seasons struggling to find the right clubs to send our loanees to. When we find these players actually flourishing then we should let them stay and develop like we planned in the beginning of the loan.

we used to be able to play on loan players in the u23s. have they changed that rule too this season?
