Young EFC Players Out On Loan 17-18

So Callum Connelly...seems to have settled in as a holding midfielder, which isn't surprising considering his versatility was a big plus (and why I actually thought we should have kept him - I'd rather have him at LB than Martina).

I'm still convinced the lad has a future with Everton. Not necessarily as a starter, but when you can play 3 or 4 positions adequately your value to the squad is multiplied.

Anyone else agree or disagree?
Connolly needed this loan to develop, its great to see him now getting game time and holding down a position in midfield , a spot he’s played in at U23s but quite rarely really, as he usually played across the back four. While there is a good argument to say he’s a better left back than Martina , Koeman wouldn’t have played him there if he hadn’t gone on loan and it would have been a tough call to put him , Holgate and Kenny in our current PL team.
If he can get another 20 odd appearances under his belt this season it will be great for him .

Great to see that some of our loans this year look to be pretty successful.

I think there's at least 4 players that have had more than 10 starts so far this season - though to be fair there looks to be a handful of very unsuccessful loans in progress too.

I assume any talk about Onyekuru coming in January is just jarg tabloid talk because we're desperately in need of a striker?

He’s had a horror all over! Some shocking over hit passes. Henry playing pretty good first 20 minutes though. Not sure on all those back to front balls from Kara though.

I would give him between a 4 or 5/10 for the entire game. He's improving so I am trying to be a bit lenient here. When he's good he's very good, I hope he can go back to his former level from AA Gent. He was brilliant back then.

Onyekuru a 7, good first half. Weak second half, in his defence though he has played a lot of games during the last week so was probably tired. Was quite funny, that Lüstig looked like a deer in headlights whenever Onyekuru came at him with the ball.

Irony

Yeh I think Anderlecht didn’t want half time to arrive; I knew the second half would go like that. Thought Baines was on the pitch for them though; least attacking full-back I’ve ever seen!

Lots of publicity about the rise and fall of Galloway of late. First time I saw him was around 3 years ago. Think it was home to WBA not sure. He played left back and was blowing out of his ass after 25 minutes. He looked very poor. Eventually went off injured.

He really didn’t look like anything like a decent left back.

He’s not a LB probs why.

Conor Grant was an unused sub in Crewe Alexandra's game.

I’m inclined to agree, but at what point do we have to reconsider that? He’s played virtually all of his football over the last 4 years in that position, being picked there by half a dozen or so managers. It might not be where we expected him to end up, but much of the evidence suggests left back might end up being his role.
