What a horrible match was that. If it keeps going on like that there will be more booing.

His decision to leave Trebel out of the game didn't improve anything. Hanni played as the number 10; Onyekuru left, Chipciu right (have to say impressive invisibility act from him today). Only the first 5 minutes were a good watch, the rest was dire.

Onyekuru sometimes did something good; but an equal amount of times he annoyed Kums by making the field too narrow. There is a time and place to go inside. Very good run from him though on the Dendoncker pass, and his subsequent shot led to Hanni putting away the parried ball. Summarized: a good debut.

Theodorczyk; by far the worst guy on the pitch. .

Very disappointing game. They made Martinez yawn ffs.

They still need a lot of training and matches to develop some kind of chemistry between them because it's clear it's not working atm.

If they play like this next week against Charleroi, they will get destroyed.

Pennington's an interesting one, as he always seems to get sterling reviews whenever he goes out on loan, but doesn't quite look good enough for the PL. He'll undoubtedly have a decent career, but I'm not sure it'll be with us.

I was surprised how poor Anderlecht were. Naively I just assumed they would be massively better than their opponents.

It looks like Onyekuru won't start next match.

He gave another set of interviews. Nothing spectacular. Very short summary (not including standard media talk like: "I want to play, I felt I could change the game but I need the permission of the manager to do that etc...):

From all the teams that were interested, Arsenal was the biggest team but PSG was the most persistent. He did their medical tests but they only gave him two hours to decide and they didn't tell him their future plans - hence he didn't sign for them. Oh and he looks forward to playing with Rooney. There are stories emerging that RSCA has an option to extend the loan for another year (he says he's not aware of that option).
He has to play centrally. He is wasted on the left.

He's a left winger mate, played almost every game last season on the left wing and was the league's top scorer.

His pace and dribbling ability make him the perfect winger, he's to small to be suited as striker. Especially when he plays in the Prem.

Oh no aren't good atm. Last week against Antwerp was equally horrible. It was the same at the beginning of the previous season, still won the title though. The thing is winning the title again won't be good enough this year; he'll have to do it with good football or he's out. Was always a bit expected. Losing Tielemans, some new players, Dendoncker who atm is clearly somewhere else (in his mind); I'm also starting to believe that Theodorczyck has suffered a permanent fall from grace so it would be wise to acquire a good centre forward and possibly bin him since he's still worth something atm.

Also Oostende aren't that bad; they could have gone through against Marseille (lost 2-4 in Marseille; 0-0 at home and they really could/should have scored a few). They are like a Belgian version of Leipzig; their owner is a billionaire who bought the club when they just got promoted. Since then strange things happen; all of a sudden they acquired the keeper of Anderlecht or this year they've acquired Belgian international Lombaerts from Zenith Sint Petersburg. Last year they had the successor of Lukaku; who got sold for 12 mill € to Wolfsburg. And Marusic, good defender who they sold to Lazio. And off course they also had Jordan Lukaku; who they also sold to Lazio (I don't rate him btw) etc ... They bough Zivkovic as his replacement - I don't expect a lot from him. They've got a good team.

Anyhow if they play like that against Charleroi they will get flattened; especially since they always struggle at Mambourg.

He's a left-winger mate; last year he also played left wing for the entire season and he did well. The central striker was Sylla. He's too fragile to play the sole central striker roll (even in the Jupiler Pro league he would get flattened) in most formations and his movement isn't good enough to play a false nine or something similar.

Off-topic but are Charleroi any good?

The last 3 seasons they have been decent; I'd put them on 7th place (borderline Play-off 1). They've managed to achieve play-off 1 a couple of times which is quite a difficult thing to do. Have some decent players atm; Mata, Lukebakio (on loan from RSCA; and knowing RSCA's luck off course he will score against them)... and a good coach.

Mind you RSCA has a special gift. They are able to lose from teams you'd never expect them to; or stuff happens like: a player that hasn't scored for the entire season, chances are he'll score against them.

What's your thoughts on dedoncker? As we were linked at the start of the summer, few rumours going around that he wants to leave.

He wants to leave that's obvious. He "wants a new challenge". Trainer said tonight that he can't guarantee that he'll stay... Very good player. The thing is he won't be cheap. If he leaves RSCA will have quite a problem to replace him.

Loads of interested clubs (very big clubs; already had a meeting with PSG, Milan interested, Alético ...) and he has until the 15 of august to sort it out ... For Everton I think it's better to invest the available money in some other positions where the needs is more dire. I can understand why he is a major target though; very interesting profile.

Fan comments
"Pennington 7 - Solid but did nothing that made you sit up"
"I also thought Pennington did very well, looked cool under pressure."
"Pennington - 8 - Classy footballer. Several vital blocks and good distribution. Hope his injury is not serious."
"Pennington 7- Impressive looks brilliant on the ball as well."

His injury is being assessed today.

I know it's all relative, but it's interesting the comments about Pennington's ball playing ability. That seemed something of a weakness for him in his outings for us, although I suspect alongside Williams he'd look like Bobby Moore.
