Young EFC Players Out On Loan 17-18

Williams and Jags may well be out of the door. Mori may not want to play for us. That leaves Keane and Holgate (both injury prone) as our CBs. It looks as though we’ve picked one out of Pennington Browning and Galloway for a new contract. It’s also the same one Koeman gave game time too. Someone somewhere must have seen something in him to tie him down because we’re usually not slow in cutting players loose at that level (Connor Mcaleny and David Henen aside)

Galloway is 22, Tarashaj is 23, Conor Grant is 23, Sam Bryne will be 23 in a few months, Garbutt's a few weeks shy of 25! That's not to mention 26 year old Jose Baxter. I'd say we have form for keeping players long after they stop being 'young'.

Loving the fume at the club giving a young player a chance. What a fan base

It’s one thing giving players chances and another showing lack of ambition in almost every department.

The lad has struggled at Leeds and never showed much when playing for us. I’m sure he’d have a career in the game but I don’t see that he’s good enough for what we want to achieve.

Hardly poor from the fan base that sentiment cannot get in the way in football. We’ve let many better players go.

Am surprised at the length of contract like.
The advantage he has over Galloway is that he would be classed as home-grown by the club for European competitions in the future.

Baxter's contract is up this summer, IIRC we only re-signed him to help him with his drug issues and give him another chance etc.

ffs Galloway's downfall is sickening, He had a really good run for a while.
I'd bring him back into the U23 fold to try an get his head straight. Two bad loans have derailed his career. What's happened to him is very similar to Garbutt, and both players still have 2 full years left on their contracts.

Having both here could block the path of a youngster coming through so I'd probably offload Garbutt to a lower league club. Should be a number of takers if we're paying his salary. Work on Galloway for 6 months to try and get some confidence back and then maybe loan him out again in January.

The pre WBA player had so much promise.
