Pickford
Kenny Jags Keane Baines
Gana Davies
Lookman Rooney Sigurdsson
DCL

We keep wanging on about pace but Spurs don't have an abundance. It's about being very clear about how we want to play. We should be aggressive and, with Rooney and Siggy, control football matches.

I can't wait till we can set up like this.

------- -------Pickford------------

Coleman---Keane----Mori----Baines

-------Gueye------Davies/Morgan

Bolasie--------Sig--------Lookman

-----------Rooney/DCL----------

Yea I'd love to see something like that. Might change a few players but its the style - wingers with a proper attacking mid and striker all playing in the correct position.

Schneiderlin was a useless signing specially with the emergence of Davies, he is a very good player but him and Gana play in the same position and the idea of playing them both has failed

Now:

-----------Pickford
Kenny-Keane-Jags-Baines
--------------Gana------------
-------Gylfi--------Davies
-------------Rooney--------
--------DCL-----Sandro

If we had a fully fit squad I'd take out Kenny amd Jags for Coleman and Mori.

I posted this earlier in my own thread, but I'd go with this vs. Sunderland and see how we get on:

Pickford
Holgate - Keane - Jags - Baines
Davies - Gana
Lennon - Rooney - Lookman
DCL

We need to start utilising width going forward, especially against teams that will sit back against us at home, which is why I reckon we should start Lennon and Lookman on each side. Rooney as the 'number 10' for the linkup and Davies to get himself involved in attacks. If we had Coleman & Bolasie fit down the right instead of Holgate & Lennon I think we'd look very decent. We then have the likes of Sigurdsson, Klaassen, Morgan, Sandro and Vlasic to swap in so there's a few options there.
That's my pick, apart from Kenny at right back with Holgate alongside Keane instead of Jags. Win the champions league with that.

Yeah I've seen a few people suggest that now. Don't think Koeman will ever opt for a Keane/Holgate CB pairing though unfortunately, even on Wednesday. Kenny could be involved though.

...I think the problem is more about who we haven't got than who we have got. Sigurdsson would've slotted nicely, replacing Barkley in last season's team but of course we don't have Lukaku. The players we've recruited are talented but a bit 'samey'.

Team selection with this squad is a little like moving deck chairs on the Titanic. Sigurdsson is ideal playing around and beyond a conventional striker. Keane is an aerially dominant Centre Back who is exposed on the right side of a back 3. He needs an effective partner in a flat back four.

Inverted wingers need pace and athleticism but he's playing his central midfielders out there. Lookman is a talent but he will be inconsistent and the clamour for his inclusion might wane after a few games.

It's a matter of make do for now. Bolasie and Coleman will help but it'll take more than one window to make a team. The gaps are obvious and need to be plugged.

We might all love Gana and Schneids BUT, they are too defensive overall. Gueye has been p[ushing up a bit more but still not enough.

other teams have

Matic Fellaini
Kante Fabregas
Xhaka Ramsey
Henderson Can

Basically they have a player that will get goals and assists playing with their DM. We are just too cautious with these 2, we really should only play one coupled with Davies or......Barkley, cos we need much more going forward.

Pickford
Holgate Keane Jags Baines
Schneids/Gana and Davies/BARKLEY
Kev Sigurdson Lookman
DCL/Rooney

Pickford
Kenny Keane Holgate Baines
Gana
Vlasic Sigurdsson Lookman
DCL Sandro
Replace Kenny with Coleman, Vlasic with Bolasie, and swap the strikers around and that's looking decent on paper. You could even argue that Funes-Mori instead of Holgate at LCB would be slightly better.

Coleman walks in when he's back from injury.

I don't rate Bolasie highly, o hoping Vlasic can nail down a starting place.
Bolasie is the best wide right player we have at the club and with Lookman on the other side there's some proper potential for some decent wide play from both sides for the first time in donkeys:

Pickford
Coleman - Keane - Funes Mori - Baines
Gana
Bolasie - Sigurdsson - Lookman
Sandro - DCL

Yeah I like the look of that, very attack minded, though it means no place for Davies whom I rate. Perhaps start him alongside Gana at the expense of one of the strikers but change it to this later on if we're still needing a goal or two.
