Us; Sign a striker, any striker

Everton;

Us; come on, sign a striker, anyone, just a striker

Everton; goes for giant Portuguese lad

Us; NO NOT THAT ONE

Us: We need to buy young players who can develop who aren’t already in the PL just like Brighton and Brentford do. Thelwell needs to send his scouts out further than Wolverhampton and Burnley. It will probably end up being Che Adams or Weghorst for brexit ball Dyche

Everton: linked with unknown young striker from Portuguese league who needs some development

Us: how many prem goals as he scored?

This forum, my word. Would probably be complaining that Mbappe wasn’t a proper striker if Thelwell managed to get him on a free.

I think people are happy to be signing a prospect. But he is a very raw looking young kid (3 years younger than Simms), so it’s only right that people also expect a signing that is likely to be able to start games and score goals straight away.

If he does arrive. We’d be looking at the following across the front three:

LW: McNeil, Gray
ST: DCL, Danjuma, Maupay, Chermiti
RW: Danjuma, Iwobi

Now there’ll probably be some change in that as I think Gray will go and I still expect another striker and winger to come in.

It’s one of those situations where if DCL and McNeill stayed fit most of the season it’s not a disastrous lineup. If they don’t then it becomes far more stretched and we need more depth of cover.

I seem to be expecting a lot more from Danjuma than most on here though. I think if we’d paid 30 mill for him people would be happy because we made a signing of a good player who can play out wide or through the middle covering two positions for us and can score and create goals. As we got him on loan though people seem to be acting like he’ll contribute absolutely nothing. The narrative seems to be that DCL will definitely be injured all season and Danjuma isn’t even considered so therefore we’re doomed. Of course that could end up being true but equally they both could be our two best attacking players.

I just think it will end up being either Adams or Iheanacho with this lad also coming. Unless we have more sales can’t see is paying 20mil plus for a striker.

Mbappe hasn't proved himself in the Premier League.

He hasn't got a clue this fella.

And not forgetting Manny Fernandes too. I'm sure pretty much every club has stories like those though, we just remember the Everton ones
True they must have their own, ours just appear more outlandish.Even though Kenwright wasn't involved in some of them it's as if his fingerprints are all over the club.

I wasn't impressed with the rumours of Weghorst but if we get this young lad having some experience alongside him just might work.
