Okay let's humour it

Liverpool as an independent city state

  • What form of government?
  • How far does our territory reach? City only, Sefton & Knowsley too? Wirral? Widnes, Skem, Runcorn?
  • Are we seceding from the UK or just leaving England while jostling for a new status within the United Kingdom?
  • National Anthem?
  • Starting XI for our new national team?
  • Flag?
  • What changes to law are we making?
National Anthem got to YNWA 🤷‍♂️

I take your point. But is there a record of any other part of the country being considered for 'managed decline'? Look at the attached, 4th line from the end.View attachment 211855
Well managed decline, when they closed some of the coal mines, wasn't that managed decline of some villages were most of the employments would of been related to the collieries?

Yeah, Thatcher in cahoots with McGregor. But I don't believe it was ever stated in a document, as it was in what I posted.

Yeah, that's bumming up the city. But a lot of narrative, particularly about the Thatcher era (which I lived through in Liverpool) is decent. And how other parts of the country look down on Liverpudlians. Believe me, I was subject to a lot of it, coming from Liverpool, when I moved with my job.
I definitely agree there's a lot of stick given to scousers by plenty of people but I'm not sure it's parts of the country as a whole though I'd concede your experience is greater than mine - there's just nobheads everywhere looking for a stick to beat people with.

My personal and professional life has very often involved being in town and the surrounding areas and there's a good few very insular and sometimes outright hostile scousers when it comes interacting with a wool. Most are completely sound but there is a vein of scouse blokes, and it's always the fellas, who are over the top uber scouse, quick to give people stick for not being scouse, and even quicker to get angry if they're made to look a tit. And they're almost always 'Scouse Not English'.

All time Scouse 11 (4-3-3)

Andy Rankin; Tommy Wright, Dave Watson, Brian Labone, Leighton Baines; Peter Reid, Colin Harvey, Ian Callaghan; Wayne Rooney, Joe Royle, Johnny Morrissey.

Wasn't sure if Dixie Dean counted as Scouse. Callaghan included as he was the only decent RS. Nice fella apparently.

As a non-scouser I find these people incredibly cringeworthy. Almost on par with the “Irish people who aren’t actually from Ireland”

Are you from Liverpool mate? Kept that quiet.

Will you need your passport to go to Bootle.

Interesting video. As an American I'm still trying to understand Liverpool, which is difficult growing up and living halfway across the world. I just visited for the Fulham match (and Palace away) and did have some takeaways from my visit. It seems like the city has a little chip on it's shoulder and everyone is kind of together in that. I spent two nights in the Denbigh, one with Evertonians lamenting an awful match against Fulham and another a week later with a Red who dropped in for a few pints. Both were great nights and I was welcomed with open arms. My connection to Liverpool is through Everton, but I did get a similar vibe from Liverpool that we have in America of being looked down upon by the crown and having an attitude of [Poor language removed] we don't care. I might be trying too hard to draw parallels between my background in America and Liverpool, but I had a great visit and enjoyed getting to know the city a little bit. Lord have mercy on our souls tomorrow against Bournemouth.
