Everton January 2025 Transfer Thread

Look at Newcastle when Howe took over.

Wood, Burn, Trippier, Bruno came in - turned that relegation fodder side into one that nearly qualified for Europe.

We don't have the resource or capacity to spend that money in January, but it certainly made a huge difference for them.

Absolutely....if we had the resource or capacity or even ability to improve the squad so easily - I just dont trust they can, for whatever reason, im not sure.

Right, so what resolution will Everton be seeking if the tactic of paying good money to obtain a good player is off the table, which is the age old tactic employed by Premier League football clubs?

Will we be going for the pay small money to attract good forwards tactic instead? A tactic that isn’t even adopted by the likes of Bournemouth and Brighton any more, who have both dropped in excess of 40 million on players in the last year.

The penny pinching has brought us to the brink of relegation! It’s been going on for way too long, and it’s going to bite us if we don’t stop acting like the smallest club in the league!

I'm not sure you know anything about our current situation, if its so so easy to spend and win.

Spend on good players....wow, what an idea that is. If only Moshiri knew that, we would be champions of the WOOORLD now.

Do signings really make that mich differnece ?? Considering how por most of them have done the last 2 windows.

We've had to operate with hands behind back given necessity to make a profit, and defer payments with £0 upfront style arrangements.

There's no guarentee in January - I recall previous January's when again we didn't spend any money but relegation rivals like Leeds were paying £36m for Rutter, Southampton Onuachu (hipsters on here had breakdowns over him going there!), Bournemouth Ouattara etc. There were tables showing us spending £0, and every other team bottom 8 spending decent chunks - we still stayed up.

We don't need to improve last 3 season to survive, we stay up with 36 points....I know, its hardly ambitious but we just need to stay in the league as you just said too.

I would like us to add to the squad YES.....but not throioing big money on a striker, we have e nough strikers, the issue is cretivity FOR the strikers.

We're 1 result from the bottom 3 at the moment.

Unless our form improves, we'll again go to 33/34+ games fighting relegation.

We need pace out wide - full back and wingers, and a central midfielder who can pass the ball forward.

In my view, we don't have the luxury of not needing this window.

We needed transfers in August that we didn't make. We need to make them now.

No smoke without fire, its also his 21st today ;)

Im making a guess based on how bad the last lot have been, I don't trust them to make good signings.

Do you REALLY think I want my football club to not want good players ??
Actually I'd love us to make some good signings but :
a. I don't trust Kev and Co to make them and
b. Even if by some miracle he did Dyche would find an excuse not to play them.

A plague on both their houses I say.

The strategy can only be to do what we can within our very limited means in January, and to try and limp into 2025/26 still in the Premier League.

Absolutely horrible to write this, or to consider it as it shows zero ambition. But pragmatically, getting to June with a season of PL football at the new stadium, with a new squad, with a new manager is the only way we can fix the mess the club is in.

Aug I was sharing my view to get to Jan, head above water, with new owners and invest.

To be frank, we deserve relegation if we dont invest this January. You can't be relegation fodder for 3 seasons and not invest/have profit in the window for 4 seasons.

Your first points are why im not so sure spending loads in Jan works.
Continue as we are, we will get 35/36 points - that keeps us up, just.

Yes its not great, and I agree we need some legs to help improve that.

I just dont have much confidence in them making the additions that will make the difference, thats all.

I would love them to bring in good players, not sure it happens though.

Thats exactly how I see it mate.

What we all want and would LOVE to happen, is irrelevant.
