It's a loss making business, so it's not just the cost right now - it's the projected losses to the future too. If you have a billion to invest, there are easier ways of making returns.

I think my take on it is that we'd have ended up here with Moshiri in charge at some point - it's just come to a head quite quickly due to macro-economic stuff.

Don't want to excuse them - but not every club has been trying to fund a stadium these last years or had their benefactors limited by sanctions. It certainly doesn't help that it is a badly run club - but it's not the only reason.
