Your post I quoted certainly was making an effort to somehow make set pieces seem less important than open play.

It's like those weird arguments where people were trying to take goals away from Lukaku.

Anyway, he's one of the hardest workers in the league and is actually good at football. Not arsed about the price...the market is mental.

I don't know how you can say set pieces are just as important as open play. They can be an important weapon, and a goal is still a goal but there's not a chance they're as important.

Hypothetically we could sign two players.. one of them has scored 20 goals from set pieces, the other all from open play. A goal is still a goal. But I know who I'd prefer.

Not all goals are equal in you mind clearly.

An Ossie pea roller or a Bily laser beam count exactly the same.

This is literally one of the reasons Martinez was sacked

In my opinion, and I am no expert so I may be wrong, Siggy would be our most important signing of all, even if we go on and sign a top class striker. In the 1980's we signed a wheel. The wheel that turns and makes everything work. That wheel was Peter Reid, and his importance in what was to come should never be underestimated. Siggy is our wheel, get him signed for this guy will make this team play.

Not at all. You've literally just quoted me saying a goal is still a goal. In relation to winning, a goal is a goal. Simple as that.

In relation to judging a players quality, it's a totally different criteria. Hence my argument of 20 goals scored by penalties or 20 goals akin to Maradona vs England (not hand of god). I honestly don't think that's a controversial viewpoint, nor should it be difficult to grasp.

But 20 goals are 20 goals regardless of how they are scored.

I really feel like you're just trying to wind me up now . I just quoted in regards to winning, a goal is a goal. If we win a cup with it bouncing off Rooney's arse I'll be made up.

But in regards to judging a players quality, you have to actually look a little closer. Hey if you think I'm wrong that's totally fine, we can agree to disagree. But given there's a goal of the month competition on match of the day, would that not suggest that perhaps all goals are equal, but some goals are more equal than others?
