£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

Utter gash, massively overrated is Calhonglu.

That James deal is a bizarre 2 year loan allegedly. Also we've no hope yet of attracting form Real Madrid.

We need to attract realistic players who significantly improve us. Overpaying is a necessary evil. The game is the game, better to be playing than watching.
Because the PL is awash with TV money PL clubs will pay more than European teams

45m. Which is more than Liverpool paid for Salah and more than Man City paid for Bernardo Silva.
The same salah who bombed at Chelsea and silva who is totally unproven in this league. Playing devil's advocate here, but at least we know what we are getting with siguardsson. If either silva or Salah repeat siguardsson's stats from last season (9 league goals and 13 assists) I'd be very surprised.

It'll be the fourth time this summer Everton have been had off by no mark clubs for millions.

We could have bought two more players with rational prices paid for Pickford (should have been £20M); Klaassen (should have been £18M); Keane (should have been £20M); and now Sigurdsson (should have been no more that £30M).

You're making up these prices. It's a bit like going to a car dealer and offering less than they want to sell it at.

That's about £40+M that could have bought a CB and new LB...or a quality attacker to lead the team.

Madness, utter madness.

And now we have to sell Barkley to fund this one.

It's gross irresponsibility with the player sale cash we'll have as a once in a generation chance to make pay.

Totally get your sentiment but until the week is over and the window is closed I'm not going to judge. I'm pretty pleased with the business done so far.

City have just broke the 200m barrier, first team to draw it in a transfer window, times are changing.

And we got overpaid for Lukaku
Do you honestly think he was worth 100 m plus 1yrs of Rooneys wages
Swings and roundabouts
Do you think Walker is worth 50 m
Do you think Magic is worth 50 m
It's the market and we are in it
Agree. Even if we pay £50m, that's half a Lukaku, and we probably end up with a far more effective team. Just a crazy market, but on balance he's worth paying up for. What's the alternative - a lesser player for less money? That will be where the Sissoko for £35m rumours are coming from... (shudders)

It is not the point I am making. We are paying more money for inferior players with no resale value. I expect a bit more imagination from Walsh

I realise that wasn't the point you were making, but it was the point I'm making.

To hopefully make it easier to take. Yes this fee is going to be mad. But it's who they want so just enjoy us going out and getting the players we want without fannying about it like we have for actual decades.

I don't think I have ever called an everton player "inferior" in all my born chuff.

We pay what we have to pay for the players the manager wants, it is quite simple. Why be so offended when its not your money?

If they reject that offer then I wish everton would move on. Surely there is better out there in the world for that price.

It would leave them with a really disillusioned expensive player and let them stew. No one else will come in for him for more than we are offering him.

Name me all these players we should be signing, who are better than those we have signed, who are realistic options, who would be willing to join us, and who are far better value.

Last summer - Gana 7m would easily get 25m now.
This window - Sandro 5m with a decent season behind him we're looking at a potential 20m next summer.
If Walsh continues to bag at least one of these 'bargains' per window I'd be delighted.
