£40m Bid Made For Sigurdsson

Just remembered that Manchester City bought Bernardo Silva for £43m. City of all clubs pay less money for a better player in the same position in the same transfer window.

Agree mate, and it's a little sickening, but he would never have come to Everton so we need to be realistic about our expectations. Unless we're prepared to pay top players £250k a week to entice them we're currently fishing in a different pond to the elite.

It's crazy money for Sigurdsson though - I've never personally seen a game he's played in and even taken notice of him unless it was a dead ball scenario. Happy to be wrong but it seems these are the prices we have to pay for the 'best of the rest'

Koeman is here for 3 years (hopefully longer) - he is buying players to bridge the gap. proven premier league quality. sigurdsson has consistently scored and set up goals for a poor team. He wants this player we need to get him. people saying about resale value. i dont want us to sign players to move them on. if we want to sign players for re sale value we have lookman ... ramirez etc... We should pay what ever we can to make statements and improve our team. He definitely will. Get this tied up and sign a striker and a left sided cb. This summer has been great then.

I was against it at first for the price, but now it's gone on for so long I just want it done too.

Think all this faffing around could backfire, surely Walshy etc could see how obvious it was that Swansea would reject a bid lower than their openly known 50m price tag.

IMO ,it will be done in the 48 hours, undisclosed would be my bet.

I agree that £50 mill is over the top, but in todays market, thats what you have to pay to get a proven premiership and international footballer.

I for 1 am glad to see us actually competing to sign these type's of players, after some of the absolute dross we have had to put up with over the years and believe me , after being a fan for nearly 50 years , ive seen some dross pull on our great shirt.

Where will Rooney be playing if we sign another CF? If as seems likely we play 433...
No one here knows ask RK
We may play 4/3/3 or 4/2/3/1 or 4/4/2
No player will play all games and with no disrespect to Brighton , I can't see us playing the same 11 and formation against Brighton at home as we will against City /Chelsea /United away

Right, hang on a second, what the absolute [Poor language removed] hell is that paragraph right there?

Did you not see the video I was referring to?

I challenge you to find Ozil scoring goals or providing crosses like that with his left foot.

You might find some through balls or assists equal or better on his left, but those two categories he doesn't even hold a finger on his STRONG foot compared to Sigurdsson's supposedly ''weak'' foot.

Didn't Koeman talk about Rooney playing in a free-role? That his position wouldn't matter, regardless of it being LW/RW/AM or CF?

He's still going to drift around the box, distribute possession and score/assist the odd goal.

I still hope we buy another striker rather than sticking with Rooney/Sandro/Bolasie upfront.

" best of by rest " until we can bridge that gap and then attract even better.

No I'm talking about the paragraph where you're saying Ashley Williams walks in any team in the top 6 bar Spurs. You then went on to say Philip Jagielka at 35 with no working limbs gets in Liverpool and City's sides, what on earth is going on in that head of yours.

1 -- No idea. But the fact is that Moshiri made that statement and so @davek is correct.

2 -- If we don't sign a top centre back then what is the point of signing Sigurdsson? Its pointless.

3 -- We have Rooney, Sandro, DCL, Mirallas, Lookman, Niasse who can all play CF We also have Lennon, Bolasie (injured), Dowell and Barkley as attacking players, If we go with 433 why haven't we sold some of these players when we need a total of 7. If we sign Giroud then that's 11 attackers and 7 who can play centre forward....DCL is 3rd choice, let him be an option.

4 -- We wont get 4th place with such a poor defence. Why spend 80mil+ on even more attackers instead of using that money to fix the defence

5 -- The defence could line up like this: Martina -- Jagielka -- Williams -- Connolly with just a couple of suspensions/injuries. The best we can put out is this Kenny -- Holgate -- Keane -- Baines and even that has no natural left sided centre back.

6-- Why call a former manager a clown? He achieved more in his first season than Koeman.

On your last point
Martinez was left a better squad that knew how to defend
He also got Lukaku in on loan.

Koeman was left a poorer squad that couldn't defend

I highly rate Williams, but didn't watch too much of him last season. Is he really worse than any of those CB's I compared him with in those teams?

Liverpool & City are known for playing liability in defense for many years. I cannot imagine Jagielka performing any worse than what I've seen from the likes of Demichelis, Skrtel Lovren.

As you do.
