2024/25 Relegation Thread

Ipswich v Newcastle
Palace v Arsenal
Leicester v Wolves
Everton v Chelsea

There’s a chance we could be in the drop zone at the end of next weekend, but I think Arsenal will get something at Palace. However it does look incredibly likely that we’ll be in the drop zone going into the Forest game, for me. I think Ipswich and Leicester will both win next week.

We simply need to beat Chelsea.

I am beginning to think did we even get a point, when some look for the worst. And never stop thinking about other teams games. We got a point v Arsenal that probably at least 75% of people probably thought we would not get. Plus i always thought the would be a winner in Wolves v Ipswich - I just had as wolves  We always obviously want results going our way, but that will never always happen

Sadly we have dropped so many points in games against the poorer sides in the league, that that’s simply the situation we’re in. We’ve been left hawking other team’s results AGAIN, while we try and navigate some terribly tough fixtures where even draws might not be enough to keep us out of trouble. That’s our own fault for dropping points against Leicester, Bournemouth, West Ham, Fulham, Brentford and Southampton.

We'd be level with Villa in 4th place if we hadn't 'dropped' those pts against those teams. I don't think anyone expected an easy ride for Everton this season

Sorry, what?

Not even sure that kind of fearmongering deserves much mention outside of saying save it for the real trouble.

Meanwhile the bottom 4 are showing why we arent in any real danger yet. Southampton is horrible, Wolves are dreadful and are the one Southampton win away from being the actual worst team in the league. Ipswich couldnt beat Southampton, Palace, Leicester, Everton or West Ham, and only beat Wolves on the last head of the match. How are they supposed to win versus all the other teams? Palace beat Ipswich and lost to other terrible teams like Everton. They are likely to be in the least trouble of the bottom 5. Leicester is horrible, but have a few extra points simply because they luckily survived Bournemouth, beat Southampton only thanks to a red card, and somehow beat West Ham despite West Ham having an amazing 31 shots. These are the clubs we are competing against.

Imagine if we were in the bottom 3 at Christmas while competing with all those terrible teams

Why would I imagine something that's actually impossible unless Ipswich beat Newcastle by a LOT of goals.

Theres been a line of people saying "imagine" for the past couple months about things that haven't happened yet. I dont get the weird obsession with imagining terrible things that dont come to pass. When some 1% event does happen, then you can obsess over it.

Luckily there are 20+ games left whatever happens next week.
