It's in our hands. Can't see us finishing better than fifth though. Problem is, if we put a good run together over the next 6 games to put us back in a CL place then we'll have Liverpool away, West Ham at home and Chelsea away. With the pressure on, how would we cope with those three fixtures ?

Regardless of what Chelsea and Tottenham do, Arsenal and Liverpool have easier run ins to the season too. My heart tells me we can get a CL spot, but my head tells my heart it's a stupid t^sser.

It's on ffs !!!

Win the four homes and we are on 60 points with 5 always to come. Tbf outside of Sunderland those always are horrid.

See that's too far even for me.
That actually sounded like I think we can finish third. I just had third in my head for the latter of my post. I don't for one minute think we can get third. However its still up for grabs. You could see Arsenal in there.

I'm praying for an injury to Bale until the end of the season, nothing too painful. Without him they really are a different team.

We could have a whip round and get some nasty virus injected into the food in his fridge by a sound Evertonian with break in skills ?

I agree that Arsenal are in with a chance of third but that is probably a step too far for us. However. what will scupper Arsenal's chances and increase our chances of fifth or fourth place is a win against Arsenal.

You are also right in that the only real way for us to now haul in the teams above us is to take points directly from them with wins and not draws. We can't rely on them dropping too many other points as their run-ins are probably easier than ours.

Think you are being to negative if I'm honest Tubey. We need belief.

Not at all. I'm just pointing out that it's one game at a time for us. We're not the club on Merseyside who suddenly believe we're going to win the league after one win and I'd rather we didn't turn into one.

As Chico said in the other thread, we're being a bit schizophrenic as a fanbase here. We've won one game, great result etc. but let's take one game at a time.

Brilliant response.

Whatever.

100% he has won At least 12 points for them single handedly.

One thing going slightly in our favour for the Spurs game is that we play them in between their Europa Cup quarter final legs against Basle. They will play us on the Sunday after playing Basle at home on the Thursday. They've then got Basle away the following Thursday. If we can play with the intensity we showed today I'd quite fancy us to get something there.

I think we've played pretty well in three of our last four games, tbh. Mirallas has been a big positive for us, along with Coleman. Two big players who were either injured or not all that earlier in the season. Their form's given us a boost. We looked like we were running on fumes for a bit there, but these two have helped turn things around, for me. So I think there's cause to be cautiously optimistic, as JDawg is saying. I do get your point though.

I haven't said anything different. We scored six goals in two games prior to the Wigan horrorshow and we've just kept a clean sheet against the current champions of England.

Nothing wrong with optimism but I just feel that talk of pushing the Champions League after one result - particularly when 10 hours ago we were all wondering if we'd finish in the top seven - is pushing the boundaries of optimism into the realms of delusion.

I want to see how we do against Stoke first and foremost before thinking of anyone else. I don't think I'm being negative by saying that, rather a pragmatist.

I wouldn't say you're negative. I also wouldn't say anyone in this thread is deluded though. We all know how good we can be in second halves of seasons. It can all go very wrong in a couple of weeks, like.

But see, that's not how it is.

I was never wondering if we'd finish in the top 7, and im sure a lot of others weren't either.
