6 + 2 Point Deductions

One of the Chelsea issues looks like it might be handled quite quickly, as they've self reported. The second one around spending in the last 24 months may take longer to crystallise but make no mistake, this outcome is a bigger disaster for them than for us: they were banking on a fine emerging as the precedent.

City, who knows, but you'd certainly expect so given the length of time it has been in process.

The scale of what is alleged with them relative to us must make relegation all but certain. Plus the PL will do anything to keep Utd, Liverpool and Arsenal in the tent, they wouldn't blink about squashing City and Chelsea to achieve it.

The noise Utd and Liverpool would make if City get away with it, especially with the penalty we have been given, would be off the charts.

We’ll never get that from Dyche.

He’s a keep his head down sort of bloke who will talk about only being able to affect what happens on the pitch and cutting out the noise etc.
think you are right, but I’d think much more highly of him if he did or said something that felt a bit more emotionally connected to the club.
He always feels a bit detached to me, although given the recent history of managerial revolving doors I guess he can be forgiven for being a bit conservative.

….I expect the politicians will start getting involved. Not sure what difference it will make.

Just popped into the City forum, they’re obviously concerned but feel their charges are lesser than ours. Regardless, they’ll just set up a European Super League.
And this is it. City and Chelsea will potentially just go to their Euro Scab League if they even get anywhere near a proportionate penalty.

PL have just shot themselves in the foot over this. Administration = 9 points? Meeting payments on a new stadium and not going bust is a worse crime somehow?

Rotten to the core this judgment. Rotten.

Yes, I’m not a fan of that particularly, but that is his style, and I will credit him with calming the players down and boosting performance as a result.

For that reason, because that’s worked, I don’t see him changing tack, unfortunately.

Best I can judge, City basically lie at the heart of all this.

We've been used to create a precedent that allows the PL to apply a punishment of a nature and scale against City that will both keep the rest of the top 6 happy and make it difficult to challenge.

I was away yesterday so only just catching up on here. Tuned into the BBC’s flagship Today programme to learn more. They started with the England game, then the Las Vegas GP and finished with a new women’s rugby premiership. We’ve slipped ‘below the fold’ on their website too. That’s making me even angrier. We need to make enough noise to make sure the ridiculous nature of this deduction doesn’t go away. I don’t hear anyone in the mainstream media questioning this decision.

There is mate

A good start is Ian Herbert in the Daily Mail.

Everyone associated with the club will unite and fight, I have no doubt about that. But it also takes quite savvy management to create our own narrative particularly when we don't have media to do our bidding.

It has to be a managed and co-ordinated backlash. The fans will do that but to be successful, it has to be in tandem with the club's approach and I'm not sure that will happen.

The joker in the pack here, aside from the Premier League, of course, is 777 with the probability that they will be our custodians in mere weeks. At a political level, it's most likely going to be Josh Wander and Steven Pasko who decide what line the club will take. Do they grasp perhaps their sole opportunity to create unity with fans or do they take a far more cautious line?
