6 + 2 Point Deductions

No doubt we are above the arbitrary permitted limit, but why does the contract of the player X be written off, we would be ~9.5m in the red.

Then why not fine us for our transgressions instead of issuing a point deduction verdict and how/why was it rescaled from EFL rules?

A point deduction was issued in EFL because the clubs are not stacked with cash. In our environment, a fine is a more worthy remittance considering the majority ownership of PL clubs.

If it means we have to pay a 30m fine instead of signing a 30m player, then it could be argued that we will be paying to watch an inferior product, so that could be seen as punishing the fans.

I just don't see how losing a few points punishes the fans though - we are still getting to watch the exact same product (which I'm sure some will argue is punishment anyway 😂)
It's £2m per league position. So in effect we are being fined as well as having points deducted.

Good post Sir.
We all know the league is rigged. Leicester is a great example of that. Won the league and where are they now because they weren't allowed to spend to stay at that level? Another example is Wolves, they came up and achieved 7th place twice. They were soon restricted in what they could do. Villa, Forest and Bournemouth will be next. The only outlier is Brighton as they have done well and recouped a lot of money...however, their best players have been snatched up just as Southampton's were.

The only issue I have with your comments is that final sentence. Something needs to be done to control this ridiculous and reckless spending that says it is OK to only lose 105M every three years. We were caught red handed and while the Prem league is at pains to say we didn't deliberately mislead their panel, the reality is that statement is window dressing.

Our owner and our management is to blame for this mess, yet so many of our fans want to lay blame elsewhere. They want to make excuses for what amounts to fraudulent statements.

As I have repeatedly said, this should be the beginning of a new start. We admitted guilt. We should appeal to reduce the points deficit and we should move forward. We won't go down and we will still be a Prem side next season.

What happens to other sides is their business. We have to trust the Prem. will deal with other offenders accordingly. Now let's stop the victim act. Our owner put us in this position. No-one else.
How do you think you'll do in the europa league this season?

The fans now have to go through the stress of a relegation battle and potential relegation, potentially the club going out of existence. I don’t understand how that’s as difficult to understand as you’re making out.
Yeah, I get that and it's a valid point. But surely then, it would be impossible to punish the club without punishing the fans? That's the part I am not understanding. What is an acceptable punishment that doesn't punish the fans?

Im not a fan of FFP because its quite clearly selective of what club you are. FFP is UEFAs. And Barcelona have been walking all over it for years. Profit and sustainability are the premier leagues. And Man City have stuck two fingers up to their PL rules. Thats who these Governing bodies should be going for. Its not like Everton were 400m over. Its not like Everton were not cooperating. Its not like Everton were not selling two players for 100m to reverse the amount. I thought the case they put forward regarding the stadium and covid losses was pretty acceptable. The clubs covid losses were not a millon miles off other clubs covid losses
But all of that. It doesnt matter what i think about how flawed and bent the system is.
The severity of the points deduction does. Their biggest ever points deduction for a club that was cooperating with them for a 19m over spend during the strangest pandemic season is the absolute definition of scapegoating.

One thing that is also not being mentioned (at least as far as I could stomach to read) in the papers is that we have also effectively and additionally been fined (and possibly as much as our alleged overspend).

IF we do stay up and end up in 17th place, for example, the difference between that position and the position 10 points higher is generally reckoned to be worth 2.2 million pounds in TV money per PL position (plus additional appearance money).

Is a great point.
I mean the irony of how this league is set up regarding financial rewards to every place that you finish is a knock on effect to how they want you to spend money.
Money is this leagues God.

Essentially our owners and administrators took a risk and gambled on achieving a higher league position than we eventually achieved.
They are guilty of bad judgment.
But we are being punished because the PL discovered our attempt to disguise the overspend which breached the rules of association.
We have been found guilty of attempted dishonesty.
There is little chance of overturning the verdict , although hopefully we may get a reduction in the punishment.
It is concerning that other clubs have been informed they may have a case for pursuing compensation against us, but we will know more about this within 28 days.
It is worrying but hopeful that the only club to have 4points at this stage of the season and survive is ourselves in 94-95.
As supporters all we can do is continue supporting the team on the pitch and make it as difficult for our opponents as we can.
Personally I hope our manager can continue to confound my low opinion of him and gather the points as he and the team have done so well recently.

Not sure what this means though. How can anyone actually do anything at a football game which makes the Premier League look bad, without getting yourself arrested or banned for life.
Delay the kick-off by everyone not entering the stadium until 5 minutes before the start time and causing safety concerns? Returning footballs that went into the crowd directly into the field of the play after the game started to disrupt it?

Millions of things. I dare say we could make 10 points a match if we so wished. Could even get some sympathetic joining in from other teams that the PL has £%^#Ed over.

Oumar Niasse and Lanzini are looking baffled at this statement

don't forget a war and subsequent sanctions that cut off monies from our main sponsors

So its reported we have one week under new rules to submit our appeal, so basically by Friday at latest. So not sure how long after that it take's for the new panel to be put together, and when it is. Other than it has to be decided in 3months, and before the end of the season

Think they said a fine wouldn't be effective towards our wealthy owner

So give the club a kicking instead
