6 + 2 Point Deductions

The start of them getting away with this, City have more money then the PL and are already going on the attack and punishing this will be fudge in the end.

The wider implications will be interesting.
Offence as the best defence. Strike first and hard.

Let's see how it plays out, as you say the fallout will be interesting.

I'm not as convinced as many that City's resources allow them to keep this stuck in the courts until the PL are forced to concede - but we'll see.

At next week’s hearing, which has provoked bitter divisions between clubs, City will attempt to end the league’s Associated Party Transaction (APT) rules, which they claim are unlawful, and seek damages from the Premier League.

Introduced in December 2021 in the wake of the Saudi-led takeover of Newcastle United, the rules are designed to maintain the competitiveness of the Premier League by preventing clubs from inflating commercial deals with companies linked to their owners. The rules dictate that such transactions have to be independently assessed to be of “fair market value” (FMV).
But within an 165-page legal document City argue that they are the victims of “discrimination”, describing rules they say have been approved by their rivals to stifle their success on the pitch as a “tyranny of the majority”.

If City are successful in their claim — and some rival clubs fear they will be — it could enable the richest clubs to value their sponsorship deals without independent assessment for the league, vastly boosting the amount of money they can raise and therefore giving them far greater sums to spend on players.

The kin gall on City 😂 They'll win as well, get paid millions in 'damages' by the Premier League, have rules changed so that they can spend unlimited amounts on new players and therefore guarantee themselves success until long after all of us here are dead.

Absolutely disgusting. The other 18 (Newcastle will side with them) ought to threaten to walk out the league.

Better still move City and Newcastle to the Saudi League and rename them Al Etihad and Al forgottenourshirts. Then they can run free without rules and regulations and kill any journalists or league official they see fit I mean spend whatever they like.

Living in Brexit Britain, I can dig the "tyranny of the majority" thing - but frankly, I'd rather the majority were in control than the uberwealthy minority.

I feel a bit indifferent about all this City stuff, yes it’s a disgrace with their charges and what they’ve got away with when we were clearly victimised.

But then I feel hypocritical saying that when they’ve basically been my second team over the last 6/7 years, without them it would of been unbearable…

This might be the thrashing of desperation as they expect the result to incredibly severe, so they're trying to smash a large pillar of the case with the sponsorship stuff.

Oh well at least when City makes the Premier League fall at their feet we can all finally walk away from football altogether. The other 18 clubs should sue City for bringing the sport into disrepute.
