6 + 2 Point Deductions

This deduction is actually good for those running the club, the fans are now turning on the Premier League and no longer focusing on those running the club. We're arguing injustice over things that happened years ago, while forgetting that the financial situation has (clearly) deteriorated to an apocalyptic scenario now. The focus is completely off all that, and we'll likely stay up anyway so its not like we've been forcibly relegated at this point

Of course last season's accounts are going to trigger a new investigation. When we signed Onana etc, we all were asking what we were playing at knowing there was an investigation and that we couldn't afford it. Despite all evidence otherwise, we assumed they knew what they were doing. Add in Lampard's compensation etc and its not going to look good. I think it'll be more than £20m over

Delaying Beto to the next financial year, good business if we stay up but an immediate £30m down if we've gone down and are playing by the EFL's rules. They're living in a permanent casino, but gambling on fast dwindling credit

That's not true at all mate

Even though we've paid nothing up front for him, that's merely a cashflow thing which isn't relevant to the accounts (the important bit which we are in trouble over). If we've paid £30m for Beto on a 5 year contract, our books this year will show an amortisation charge of one fifth of the transfer fee value, despite us not having actually paid a penny yet. The same will happen in the 2nd year of his contract.

The whole "not paid anything up front" is great because it alleviates the strain on our cash flow this year which is (as is well-reported) a problem, but it does nothing to help our accounts as far as I'm aware.

I'm not presuming anything. I'm merely saying that we know the figures for the past 2 yrs and there are estimates for this year. Debt restructuring or other financial/transfer activity may yet move that figure...... so given those and our ongoing situation, there IS a possibility of a further infringement. I haven't said it's a certainty.

As regards mitigation. Our actual losses were approx £380m. These were whittled down to £124m by applying mitigation factors including our claim for Covid losses which were comfortably the highest in the league.
That isn't mitigation.

Flag ordered for Sunday - hope we get the top balc on the telly.

[Poor language removed] the premier league.

I simply dont get how clubs can bring anything against us. Even in the commissions report they state that sporting advantage cannot be quantified from what we have done, but there have been something because of another ruling that was passed in a previous case. Any case that comes against us would need to present absolute proof beyond all doubt the level of sporting advantage we gained and how it affected them specifically. The fact that, as far as I can see, the infractions have been less on players purchases, but on accounting for the stadium. Also, if Player Y was indeed Keane, as has been mooted elsewhere, then we can likely show more cases where he has lost us points, then gained them.
They won't this kind of nonsense just makes for good gossip in the rags.

I expect us to fight against this at all levels and by every avenue. On the field, in the media, via appeal, through the courts... in every way possible.

That's not being a victim. Accepting it meekly should not be an option.

But you've accepted that you broke the rules, what you are contesting is the size of the penalty. Anything else is white noise. An independent panel chose the sanction and whether it is too high is what will be addressed. Shouting about how unfair it all is is more of your neighbours' approach to anything. i know this is raw for Everton fans (I'm a Villa fan), so am of course able to see it without the emotion involved and I appreciate that i won't appreciate how it affects you as fans of Everton. That said, the deduction this season is a lot easier to bear than any other season and in all reality will have zero impact on the bottom three this season.

This will also act as a useful barometer and precedent (not that you'll care one jot about this point and I understand that), for when it comes to applying sanctions on anyone else. You're guilty of one thing - 10 points; if anyone else is guilty of more, lets say 115 things, the penalty will be pretty brutal.

Except that it wasn't the Premier League who imposed the penalty. It was an independent panel. At least be factual if you're going to down the Redscouse Victim Route (and the irony of a red coloured flag...).

It was an independent panel who were told how they should punish us. The PL briefed to the media how hard they wanted us slapped.

The panel did as they were told.

Might have already been asked but, once the appeal goes in officially will the points be reinstated until the appeal is heard or remain "lost" until the appeal is heard ?
At the moment, as the appeal has not been formally made, there is no reason to not make the points adjustment.

If you are banned but appeal you can play until the appeal so wondered what the position is with points as may have a physiological impact on our players and other teams.
