If other clubs know we need to sell, then Branthwaite will be the one being looked at by other clubs.I'd be more worried about players being sold in January. Could easily see the likes of Pickford being sold to try and make ends meet.
Interesting that there is an article about clubs still playing players who have been accused of sexual/coercive offences on the BBC today.
It talks about a 'player X' but not our player X (I think most will know who they are talking about), it does briefly mention that Everton suspended one of our players when accused, but fails to link that in to the mitigation argument re our current woes.
It reads as though the FA will only suspend if the player accused is seen as a risk to children or vulnerable adults, although one of the women quoted talks about a suicide attempt when she saw the player still playing. The fact that we seem to be the only ones to have been affected by this should not be ignored in the appeal (I would build a 'perfect storm' of negative events outside of our control argument).
i wish they would have left the league , pointless footy notAbsolute grim reading the last few pages.
The Premier League might be a lot of things. Sustainable, at least for the majority of its member clubs, certainly isn't one of them. To be sustainable, you have to accept mediocrity which eventually means relegation fights. You'll fall through the trap door eventually. If they can't get you on the pitch, they'll get you off it.
This is the entrenched model for the also-rans. Develop your talent, and sell to the top-six. If you're lucky you can bask in the giddiness of a temporary place in the top 8, and you might get the odd cup run, going all the way to a semi-final.
But the happy clappers in Singapore or Norway aren't going to care about that one bit. Let the top six play in Europe and they can play each other as well 6 times a year.
Isn't it obvious? Not saying your right or wrong ..
But why do they want us out of the league so badly?
I think there is much in this and my worry since the verdict was announced is that the players have a psychological get out of jail free card if we do go down. It's impossible to quantify that type of affect of course, and we all hope they can use the injustice as a clarion call. But if it's in the back of my mind, surely it's in theirs. The feeling we are just doomed eventually and regardless. We are asking more from them this year than the previous two, much more.Isn't it obvious?
Everton's demotion would stand as a warning to other to not go there in the future.
If Everton can take a 10 point hit and still survive in their sooner dooper league, what does it say about that league? And why would a massive points deduction put off much better teams than Everton's from having a go at overspending - and I'm not just talking about the so called top 6 either - who they can take it and survive?
No, they took off enough points to sink us.
There was a £372m loss for the three years up to 2021; the loss for the three years up to 2022 was £304m (although as you'll know the two years in the middle were considered together as an average for the purposes of PSR because Covid). It wasn't a £105m loss in those three years. Wasn't it £372m we lost in those three years but with allowable Covid write offs it was down to £105m.
The incompetence of the board should not go un highlighted. £372m loss over 3 years. No wonder we are still going hand in cap to get loans to keep the lights on.
It's been reported that the Prem wants the appeal heard and decided well before the end of the season. There's no way that happens in December, though. February or March are far more likely.this may have been covered...
but, does anyone have a timeframe on the appeal.
I read that the club are submitting their appeal tomorrow.
Is this something that will he heard and ruled on by the end of the calendar year or the football season?
But the initial question remains -- why do they want us out of the league in the first place? Because we were so vocal about the scab six?Isn't it obvious?
