6 + 2 Point Deductions

Yup. Won’t happen, but I wish the club was in a position to get ahead of these things and immediately make a statement saying, “Due to a focus on costs, careful recruitment and significant player sales, the club’s result for the 22/23 season ensure comfortable compliance with all regulations, applying all accounting methodology as laid out bump the recent independent commission findings. Since said accounts are not yet audited and submitted, the club can provide no further information in response to media questioning. The club looks forward to seeing media and PL scrutiny upon clubs who have not applied similar measures in the last financial year. Do one.”

Would be so nice for once to not have to assume everything has been a mess but things are probably improving, only to find out the disaster was way bigger than anyone could have imagined.
Yeah they will know what the 22/23 result looks like now so if it is enough of an improvement on 18/19 to pull us above the threshold they could just allay fears with a quick statement in response to media speculation.

That said, while I find it hard to see 22/23 being much worse than 21/22 (and therefore much better than 18/19) you never know with us, maybe it’s tighter than I think.

While the Times article says “there are fears that….” it doesn’t say whose fears they are. Unless it’s very tight the club themselves should really know either way, it’s not like the numbers from 22/23 can change now.

I agree with you, but how could that happen and be deemed acceptable? You cannot make up a rule for one club then change the whole system to protect other clubs that have broken the rules more than the club you've already punished in an unprecedented way. I guess well they can, and will, but it's horrifying to think they'll do that.
They've already said as much. Which is a disgrace in itself. Corrupt and twisted to the core.

Bobbles mate reckons we are ok in terms of that times article ie it's just stirring the pot and take no notice.
Yeah but the club said we were confident we were fine with the investigation that led to the 10 points.

IF the idea of FFP is to keep a club sustainable and stop them pushing themselves towards going out of business, surely needing loans from prospective new owners to pay the bills has to be factored in? It can't just be signing players and wages?

I don't really understand how we can NOT make a massive loss on the new accounts...

I'm guessing that we are still working closely to some degree with the Premier League and they have some access to our finances.

this may have been covered...
but, does anyone have a timeframe on the appeal.
I read that the club are submitting their appeal tomorrow.
Is this something that will he heard and ruled on by the end of the calendar year or the football season?
Surely the appeal has to be heard as soon as possible in this season otherwise there's no point in appealing if it was after the season as that would cause an almighty uproar if the deduction was reduced and a team that thought they were safe were then relegated.
