Given wages these days, I'd say quite a few, especially once transfer fees are included. A squad of 25 at 10k/week each is 13 million quid and PL players today make far more than that. A cap on wages and transfer fees, say 250 million for sake of argument, would go a long way toward levelling the playing field. If a team can't spend that much, so be it, but the richer teams wouldn't be able to simply flex their financial muscle. And to avoid circumventing a cap, teams wouldn't be allowed to convert a large chunk of wages into a signing bonus, which happens a lot in North Ameican sports.

Jesus, you mean the Crap can't even win the net spend title?

I dont want a level playing field.

I personally dont think a little no mark club like Luton should be able to spend as much as Manchester United.

Thats not to say I think the current rules are fair, but something like the current new UEFA FFP rules would be a better option for me, a % on revenue, not a flat rate across the league.

Then you're OK with Everton never winning another title? Because our revenue is dwarfed by at least six clubs in the PL alone, meaning we'll never be able to compete in the transfer market.

Why. If Bill Gates bought Luton and wanted to prop them up with his own cash, why not? % of turnover, particularly with club works cup / new CL structure means on one will ever break in to the top table
Because the club will outlive Bill Gates. Football clubs should be financially stable and not rely on a benefactor.

Look at what is happening to us now…benefactor pulls the plug, we aren’t of cash and he’s selling us to an unqualified buyer.

I have made my peace with Everton never winning another title.

When we spent like drunken sailors on a night out in Bangkok, nobody wanted spending limits then, everybody wanted freedom to spend what we wanted.

Now we are skint, people want everybody else to be skint.

I take solace from the small victories, like winning games.

Maybe if some kind of spending limit had been in place, we wouldn't be where we are now.

The scab 6 can all spend that, Newcastle, Villa, Wolves, Leicester, Everton under Usmanov could all have done so without "the rules".

Brighton arguably as well if they wanted to reinvest all the money they make on transfer sales.

I would also imagine you would see far more billionaire's buying into football if they were given the opportunity of actually competing.

Why would any mega rich billionaire buy into a football club currently knowing the rules prevent them from investing the money required to actually compete. We're proof of that with only 777 sniffing around when 15 years ago even a club in our mess could attract someone wanting a play thing like Mansour, Abramovich.

Usmanov has gone bro.

We wont be spending 100m a season for a very long time.

The life blood of football is far more important than Everton in my eyes. We're screwed with 777 but that doesn't mean we shouldn't want everyone else outside the current status quo to be able to make a go of it.

We need football to be competitive again before it destroys itself and 150+ years of 'istory goes with it. The path we're heading on will see the 14 other clubs in the league fans never witness a league title win again (or possibly even an FA Cup). It's killing the game.

Football is about cycles.

Remember how boring it was watching United win it nearly every year?

City are miles ahead, sure, most of it is money, but its partially down to their excellent Manager, just like United.

Big Red compete cos they also have an excellent Manager.

I dont know the answers, im just against everybody being treated the same, cos I do still hold out hope that we get our Shake and vac.
