what good additions are we gettting though mate ? che adams , mical antonio i used to think the papers just like winding us up linking us with the types of players then we signed rondon
McNeil wasn't an exciting player but now we're all gutted he's injured.

Maybe football was different back when I first started going the match but the window we lost Rooney and brought in the likes of Marcus Bent and Tim Cahill was a good example. Players who aren't exciting but will be committed and play how and where the manager wants will get us further up the league than more exotic names who aren't as committed and will cost the club a lot more, further hampering any future business we do.

The window isn't shut, yet. Obviously we'd all prefer to have business done early but it never works like that with Everton. And it probably won't until Bill Jong Un is finally deposed.

'Great' sides are not necessarily always made up of World class players. IF the management team of a club is able to put together a squad of players who have the right combative character, gel together and operate in the style demanded by the Coach then you are half way there to creating a competitive team.

Avoidance of long term injuries and/or the ability to draft in like for like players from the underlying squad to slot seamlessly into the team in the event of such makes up the other half.

Unfortunately, we have had so many changes in coaching staff, styles of play, square pegs in round holes and off field shenanigans these past umpteen seasons that we have been a million miles from creating a combative and competitive team capable of dragging us out of this current nightmare

Hopefully, Dyche can turn this around.

Inappropriate Language
' We were a Grand old team to play for'
' We were a Grand old team to support'

'And if you forget our history'
'We are just as [Poor language removed] Bolton and Sheffield Wednesday'

We are definitely staying up, I can feel it in my blood, 5 other teams ahead of us in the betting and quite a few with similar odds.

good point but cahill was more of a unknown the likes of that adams antonio etc they’ve been around for years we know how average they are , like look how rondon and maupay have turned out

I'd tend to disagree with the OP. Clearly there are some players for whom Everton won't be an option given that we're a million miles away from qualifying for Europe, and probably wouldn't be able to meet their wage demands anyway. That doesn't mean though that we should have a mindset of accepting second best. The PL is incredibly competitive, it's probably the most competitive league in the world. You can't survive in it long by treading water. You've got to be fighting all the time to improve your squad, and to be smarter about it than all your rivals who are trying to do exactly the same thing. Everton's task is more difficult because we have a long list of areas where we need to improve and limited funds. So we may have to make more gambles, but what we can't afford to do is to "settle" for a player who isn't much better than Championship quality. Chermiti, Sulemana are cases in point: we know we're taking a bit of a risk, but with their pace and raw talent they at least have potential to make us more competitive.

What we've become is not owned by oil. Unless you're owned by oil these today there's no point even looking at football results, let alone what banquets are on offer at the high table of transfers. Even your club us owned by oil, there's the overhanging nag that all you've done is buy success.

I lament the death of sport.

Evertonians are the most knowledgable fans out there and by some distance the staunchest. The owners might not act like it but fans know what NSNO is about and hold anyone associated with our great institution accountable for it. Even though our position hasn’t been good this club is a giant and has a gravity that any good player knows. Playing in front of 40,000 home fans and packed away ends for one of the game’s grand old clubs is an achievement for their CV. We can’t lose that ambition it must burn through all those that represent the club including the people bringing new players to the club, making sure they have the guts and class to play in front of expectant Evertonians. NSNO. 1=20. Throw them all in the Mersey. What’s our name?
Ah remember when 'Playing in front of 40,000 home fans' WAS actually a mark of a big club... And decent players didn't p!ss themselves laughing if Everton tried to sign them.

Golden days.

I was reading the transfer thread this morning and one thing strikes me every single time I venture in there is the level of delusion as to our current standing and what we can expect as a club.

The number of times we turn our noses up at potential signings because they supposedly aren't good enough for us, people speculating about why we haven't gone for this player or that player, when realistically they're way out of our reach.

We are a club that for the next few years will be threatened with relegation and it doesn't matter how much you bang on about our history it doesn't make us an attractive proposition in the present. If you accept where we currently are and the grind that it's going to be over the next few years to get out of it then you'll feel much better, don't have an aneurysm when Antonio or Adams get mentioned, they're currently our level both ability wise and financially.

Calm down, accept our current situation and lower your expectations and things won't seem quite so bleak.

In my opinion the 40k need to wind their collective necks in and try a bit of unwavering support , and no, parading around the ground prematch with blue flares doesn't count, its when the misplaced pass occurs I'm talking about, instead of the groans a bit of encourage is needed.

It's no coincidence that the best everton have done in the last few years is during covid in an empty stadium, we have a squad of shithouses.

The boo boys need to wipe down the piss and do one

That's just me tho

fully agree. and I would have had that opinion for a number of years now. however signing the likes of maupay and keeping davis, holgate, keane for years is still ridiculous. we are a midtable team at best. are viewed from other supporters as a lower to midtable team . when Brighton amd Hove albion supporters travel to goodison expecting to win it offers some reality to what we actually have become.
